Orchestras Canada/Orchestres Canada is proud to present our 2014 National Meeting, the premiere opportunity for orchestra leaders from across Canada to meet and learn together.

Dates: This year’s meetings are set in Toronto, and run from Thursday, June 12 (5:30 p.m. opening dinner and concert) to Saturday, June 14 (4 p.m. wrap up).

Locations: We’re moving around a lot within Toronto’s downtown core: our venues include the St. Andrews Club, Roy Thomson Hall, Oakham House (Ryerson University), the Bluma Appel Theatre (St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts), and KPMG’s national training centre. Maps are posted here.

Host Hotel: Our host hotel is the Eaton Chelsea. For more information, and to book on-line, please click here.

Conference Theme: In 2014, we explore the theme of community – and we’re looking at it from two different angles. Thanks to expert presenters and structured peer exchange, you’ll emerge with heightened understanding of your audiences, and strategies for broadening, deepening, and diversifying your relationships with your community. We’re also putting you to work, asking you to provide direct input to Orchestras Canada on the ways OC can demonstrably strengthen the collective impact of Canadian orchestras.

Who’s it for?: We welcome all stakeholders from Canadian orchestras to join us: staff, board members, music directors, musicians: if you care about orchestras, there’s a place for you at the event! However, It’s a particularly good way for CEOs to offer professional development to marketing and community engagement staff. Four of the main sessions are focused on audience and community, providing key information and tools, as well as networking and exchange with senior management from across Canada.

Key presenters/presentations:

Hilary Moss, La Placa Cohen: Culture Track 2014 and What It Tells Us About Cultural Audiences
