I will admit that I seem to have a difficult time parting with old items I have come to love. This is especially true if said items still work well. One great example is the television in our family room. It was a collaborative gift from both sets of parents and purchased for us back in early 2008. Sure, newer televisions on the market offer a ton of modern features and technology, but our trusty tube still performs perfectly, so I see no need to spend money. The same holds true for my laptop. It is approaching four years old and still runs great, but a few of the keys have rubbed off, leaving my children unable to seek out the appropriate letters while using it. This really left me with a difficult decision to make until I discovered Kidecals.

With our laptop dilemma still fresh in my mind, I chose to review two sets of Kidecals Keycals ($16 per set). These are totally cool keyboard stickers printed on premium removable vinyl with a non-residue acrylic adhesive, making them easy to apply and ideal for delicate surfaces. With not one, but two sets of Keycals, I was looking forward to upgrading both my laptop keypad and my tablet keyboard to leave them with an awesomely fun appearance as well as restoring their functionality for my kids.
I selected the Leopard Print Keycals for my laptop since I have a never ending love for animal print and felt this pattern would go great with my red and black laptop. Per the instructions, hubs first gave the keyboard a good cleaning (which was long overdue) and began applying the decals piece by piece. The stickers themselves were thick and well made, while also allowing hubs to adjust and reposition them with ease. Although the Kidecals website listing does state the Keycals are designed specifically for Mac keyboards, they also work with 99% of PCs, including mine. We got creative and trimmed a few to fit better but there were not many decals that could not be used. The outcome was super cool and the before and after photos definitely show a true improvement.I also chose the Purple Ombre Keycals for my Windows Surface RT detachable keyboard simply to make it more me. We purchased this tablet through my husband’s coworker for a super deal and it has become a fast favorite. Since this is the first of this type of device I have owned, I really wanted to find a way to personalize it. The Kidecals Keycals worked perfectly! Since the detachable keyboard is flat, it was a tad more difficult to smooth the stickers over the keys, but the end result was well worth (my husband’s) hassle. My tablet looks fierce and my keyboard will fit in perfectly with the matching purple case I ordered.
As a fun added bonus Kidecals included a surprise mustache Partystache sheet ($10) which includes a wide variety of colorful mustaches in different sizes. These are so versatile and can be used to personalize cups at a party, jazz up photos, and even wear directly on your face. Of course, my kids could not wait to start on the facial hair fun!
I am extremely satisfied with all of my Kidecals products and feel the vinyl used for each of the items is stronger than other labels I have received in the past. Summer is a great time to include labels since it allows for so many camp mishaps, as shown in Kidecals infographic. I will be shopping the site again soon just in time for the back to school season!
