BOONE, HAROLD G. 11/11/1934 - 6/21/2014 Harold G. Boone was born in Eureka, KS on November 11, 1934 to parents Rollin and Inez Boone. He proudly served his nation in the US Army and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. Harold was educated at Baker University and earned his BS in Electrical Engineering from Kansas State University. He was an avid and talented sports participant, coach and fan having influenced countless numbers of kids. Harold served on the school board while raising his children and later organized and served as President for the baseball association. He was an amazing father, providing a firm yet truly kind, gentle environment where his children could explore and thrive. Harold was a loving husband, father and grandfather that will be remembered by all who met him as a fair, soft spoken man of integrity that always had time to listen and provide his thoughts to consider, which most often turned out to be right on target. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Dorothy Rae Boone of Longview, TX; his brother: Larry Murphy Boone and wife Dorothy Boone of Tucson, AZ; his children: Diana Rae Otto and David Ritter of Independence, MO, Teresa Lynn Mize and husband Thomas of Tatum, TX, Leonard Rex Boone and wife Jenny of Denver, CO, Patricia Lou Schmidtlein and husband David of Topeka, KS, and John Thomas Boone and wife Khristine of Albuquerque, NM. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Lauren Heather Otto and Dustin Everett of Olathe, KS, Joshua Nathan Mize and wife Samantha of Rowlett, TX, Colby Rollin Mize of Lake Cherokee, TX, Kate Lynn Boone of Denver, CO, Samantha Renea Boone of Denver, CO, John Thomas Boone II USAFA, Colorado Springs, CO, Alexis Anne Boone of Albuquerque, NM, Carly Rae Schmidtlein of Topeka, KS, Jonathan David Schmidtlein of Topeka, KS, Stephen Joel Whitehouse of Denver, CO, and James David Whitehouse of Idaho Falls, ID; great-grandchildren: Marley Ashtyn Everett of Olathe, KS, and Easton Allen Schmidtlein of Topeka, KS; and by a close family friend, Stephen Eugene Hodge of Ft. Worth, TX. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Wednesday, June 25, 2014 in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Mr. Boone passed away on Saturday evening at his home in Longview. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
