JULIAN, DAVID ANDREW David passed away Friday, October 5. He was a fine man and a well loved father. David was born in 1931 to George and Ruth Julian of Maiden Rock, Wisconsin. As a boy, he and friends blew up the town's sewer, broke the school's windows and shifted the railroad tracks. After hiding in the woods, David returned home to a doubtlessly rough reception, and promptly began rejoicing in telling the story as often as possible. As a young man, he joined the Air Force and served during the Korean War. While stationed in Greenland, the Wisconsin native learned a new meaning of cold, as winter forced resupply planes to keep engines running, lest oil freeze in the lines, unyielding to fires built under the planes to battle the deep winter freeze. After serving, he attended the University of Wisconsin in River Falls. There, he made art, read philosophy, and thundered through the Wisconsin hills on an Indian motorcycle, catching the hearts of young women and the wrath of old men. In a Minneapolis club with a height requirement for admission, David, standing 6'5", met Marjorie Mae Greve, 5'11" and breathtaking. After a brief, fiery courtship they wed in St. Paul, Minnesota in 1966. They moved to Albuquerque in 1967, made many close friends, had a family, and built a good life. David worked long hours to provide for his family. He still found time to read his children stories before bed and to take them for doughnuts at Winchell's. He retired from General Electric after 20 years. In the Civil Air Patrol, he was a Lieutenant Colonel and New Mexico Wing Safety Officer. As a railroad enthusiast, he built model train layouts populated by Julian Family Industries. David had a deep and abiding faith. He was a man of prayer and a lay minister, bringing Communion to the hospital and home bound. In 2002, David's health began to falter. But David was a sturdy man with accounts left to attend. Given six months to live, David lived fully ten years more. But the strong die, too, and on October 5, David joined those that have gone before, including his parents Ruth and George, his step mother Jeanne, and his sister Joyce. He leaves behind his wife, Marjorie; his sister, Norma; and his children, Anita, David, and Peter, and their families. A memorial service will be held 4:00 pm Monday, October 15, 2012, at Christ the King Anglican Church at the Adat Yeshua Synagogue located at 529 Jefferson St. NE, Alb., NM 87108. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Christ the King Anglican Church.
