JANICE EIDUS:
Novelist, short story writer and essayist Janice Eidus has twice won the O. Henry Prize for her short stories, as well as a Pushcart Prize, a Redbook Prize and an Acker Award for Fiction, and numerous other awards.
Janice’s 2008 novel, The War of the Rosens, won an Independent Publishers Award in Religion, and was nominated for the prestigious Sophie Brody Medal for the most distinguished contribution to Jewish Literature for Adults.
Her latest book, The Last Jewish Virgin, was published in the Fall of 2010. NPR called it “Twilight…with a sense of humor, a brain, and a feminist subtext.” January Magazine named it one of the top ten books of 2010.
Janice Eidus’s other books include The Celibacy Club, Vito Loves Geraldine, Urban Bliss, Faithful Rebecca and Its Only Rock and Roll: An Anthology of Rock and Roll Short Stories.
JESSAMYN HOPE:
Jessamyn Hope is the author of the novel Safekeeping—a recommended read for summer 2015 by The Boston Globe and acclaimed by The Globe and Mail, Tablet Magazine, and The Montreal Gazette. Her short fiction and memoirs have appeared in Ploughshares, Five Points, PRISM International and other literary magazines. Recent accolades include two Pushcart Prize honorable mentions, in 2015 and 2016, and selection for Best Canadian Essays 2015. Born and raised in Montreal, she lived in Israel before moving to New York City.
ALAN KAUFMAN:
Alan Kaufman’s books have appeared in the U.S., U.K., Holland and Germany and have received front page reviews on the covers of the New York Times Book review and San Francisco Chronicle Book Review. His books include Matches, a novel (Little, Brown), the memoirs Jew Boy (FSG/Fromm) and Drunken Angel (Viva Editions), the anthologies The New Generation (Anchor/Doubleday), The Outlaw Bible of American Poetry, The Outlaw Bible of American Literature, The Outlaw Bible of American Essays (all from Basic Books/Perseus) and The Outlaw Bible of American Art (Last Gasp Books), forthcoming in June, 2016.
He is author of several volumes of Poetry and has been anthologized in Blood To Remember: American Poets On The Holocaust (Time Share Books), Nothing Makes You Free: Writings of the Second Generation (W.W. Norton) and Aloud: Voices From The Nuyorican Poets Cafe (Henry Holt and Co.) as well as many other volumes.
His op eds and essays have appeared in The Los Angeles Times, The San Francisco Chronicle, Salon, Haaretz, Times of Israel, Jerusalem Post, and other places.
A member of PEN American, he holds three citizenships, American, Israeli and French.
HOPE KROLL–VISUAL ARTIST
Hope Kroll’s collages will be projected above the writers as they read from their works.
An international showcased collage artist she attained her Bachelors of Fine Art from University of Illinois 1990 and received her Masters of Fine Arts from the San Francisco Art Institute in 1992. She is currently represented by Last Rites gallery in New York City, Robert Berman Gallery in Santa Monica, California and Nisa Touchon Fine Art in Santa Fe ,New Mexico. She has been in various publication such as The Intricacies of the Heart and It’s Chambers: The Collage Art of Hope Kroll and Masters Collage: Major Works by Leading Artists. Her art work has been Acquired by The Nora Eccles Museum of Art and the International Museum of Collage.
