Students at the the New York Harbor School are bringing the city’s waterways back to life, one oyster at a time. The innovative high school on Governors Island aims to introduce 1 billion of the once-plentiful bivalves into city waters over the next two decades, a project that could filter toxins from the water and jumpstart the ecosystem.
