FOR FAMILIES: SECOND SUNDAY TOURS

Suns, Oct 13; Nov 10; Dec 8; and Jan 12 – 10:30 am–12 pm: Ages 5–12

Visitors explore the Guggenheim’s fall exhibitions through family-oriented tours that incorporate conversation and creative hands-on gallery activities.

November 10: Adding In, Erasing Out

Participating families view works by artists Robert Motherwell and Christopher Wool in the Guggenheim’s fall exhibitions to see how different artists experiment with adding and erasing layers.

December 8: Layers on Layers

Families investigate how artists add colors, shapes and materials to create different layers in their work by exploring the exhibitions Robert Motherwell: Early Collages and Christopher Wool.

$15 per family, $10 members, free for family members and Cool Culture families. Includes museum admission and tour for two adults and up to four children. Registration required at guggenheim.org/families or 212 423 3587, Mon–Fri, 1–5 pm.

 

FAMILY TOUR AND WORKSHOP

Suns, Oct 27; Nov 24; and Jan 19 10:30 am–1 pm Ages 5–12

Following an interactive gallery tour of the Guggenheim’s fall exhibitions, families create their own artwork in our Studio Art Lab.

October 27: Mixing it Up!

Artists Robert Motherwell and Christopher Wool incorporate various materials into their artwork, inspiring participating families to create mixed media works of their own.

November 24: Imperfect Patterns

Families view how artists Robert Motherwell and Christopher Wool use patterns in their work, to create pattered artworks of their own.

January 19: Print it Out

Participating families experiment with stamps and stencils, inspired by artist Christopher Wool’s use of stamps and printmaking in the Guggenheim’s fall exhibition.

$30 per family (includes admission, workshop materials, and tour for two adults and up to four children), $20 members, free for family members.

 

STROLLER TOURS

Wed, Nov 13; Tues, Dec 10 and Jan 14, 3-4 pm

Led by a museum educator, one-hour tours of the Guggenheim’s fall exhibitions are given for caregivers and their babies.

$15 (includes museum admission), free for family members. Single strollers and front baby carriers only. Registration required at strollertours@guggenheim.org.

JUST DROP IN! Suns, 1–4 pm: Ages 3–10

Museum educators lead creative, interactive projects for visitors that explore highlights of Robert Motherwell: Early Collages and Christopher Wool.

OPEN STUDIOS FOR FAMILIES

Suns, 1–4 pm: Ages 5–14

Families are invited to stop by the Sackler Center’s Studio Art Lab and create a work of art inspired by the Guggenheim fall exhibitions. Free with museum admission.

 

FOR TWEENS: ART AFTER SCHOOL

8 Tuesdays starting Oct 1, 4–6:15 pm Ages 8–11

Tweens experience the Guggenheim’s permanent collection, Frank Lloyd Wright-designed architecture and exhibitions on view in this after-school program. Each session begins with a gallery tour that will inspire in-depth art projects in the studio including lessons in painting, drawing, sculpture, photography and more. The program concludes with a small exhibition for family and friends.

Fee: $300, $250 members, includes all art materials, snacks, a family pass, and photos documenting the program. For more information and to apply, call 212 423 3637 or email spospiech@guggnheim.org.

 

FAMILY ACTIVITY PACK AND GUIDES

Sats and Suns, 10–4 pm

Families with children ages 3–12

The Family Activity Pack prompts conversation, provides information about artwork, and offers hands-on activities for visitors of all ages. Permanent Collection Packs are also available. Family Activity Guides provide information and activities for families to explore the Guggenheim on their own. Free with museum admission. Available on loan at the Family Activity Kiosk.
