Part #1 -
The Promise:  We'll sketch from a place you've most likely never been with spectacular views you've probably never seen.

After closing for more than 40 years, the High Bridge, NYC's oldest standing bridge, re-opened to the public.   The High Bridge, connects Washington Heights with the Bronx.  It is a pedestrian only bridge.  The New York Times dubbed it the Bronx Highline.  It's still undiscovered, a real contrast to the High Line’s bustle.

The New York Times says, "the sightlines are magnificent in all directions. The bridge’s arches — sternly, gracefully Roman — are replicated west across the Harlem River, where the Harlem River Drive rises to meet the Trans-Manhattan Expressway, and north, under the Washington Bridge. The interlacing highways, with their knot of interchanges and ramps, recall mid-century “city of the future” dioramas. For a sobering view of what the urban planner Robert Moses wrought, this is the place.

"To the south, the custard-yellow Macombs Dam Bridge, a filigreed span, offers a stylish rebuke to the undistinguished Williamsburg and Manhattan Bridges, and at the southern horizon, wrapped in the hazy atmosphere of a Claude Lorrain painting, the Manhattan skyline rises and shows a new face.

"The angle is fresh. Startlingly so, for anyone used to panoramic shots from the other three points of the compass, which means just about everyone. The buildings have been reshuffled, making it an interesting game to mentally rearrange the pieces."
