Spring into action with some great activities for the first weekend of the new season!

Friday

The Nyack High School Drama Club performs The Music Man, Fri & Sat at 8p, Nyack High School Auditorium, 360 Christian Herald Rd.

The final weekend of Hudson Valley Restaurant Week featuring nearly 200 of the region’s top restaurants and offering prix fixe, three-course dinners for $29.95 and lunches for $20.95. Runs from March 8-22. Check out the nine participating Nyack restaurants.

The Rogues of the Children’s Shakespeare Company perm Pericles, Fri & Sat at 7p in the Palisades Presbyterian Church, 117 Washington Spring Rd, Palisades.

In Time Stands Still, a photojournalist veteran of the Iraq war, sidelined because of an injury, questions her place in the world. See this Tony-nominated play at the Elmwood Playhouse, Fri & Sat at 8p, Sun at 2p, 10 Park St, Nyack.

Local musicians, Dave Reiss & Friends, play a line up of rock and funk tunes. 9:30p at Casa Del Sol, 104 Main St, Nyack.

Saturday

The River Rowing Association hosts its annual Pull With Purpose Row-a-thon to benefit the Nyack Center. The race is open to 5-person teams competing for most meters rowed on indoor rowing machines. Winning teams receive prizes. Newbies don't need to know how to row - coaches give demonstrations during the registration period. Registration at 8a, race from 9-11a at Nyack Center, 58 Depew Ave.

Music Marathon at Rockland Conservatory of Music. Continuous performances by students, parents, faculty and friends of RCM. Free. 1-11p at Rockland Conservatory of Music, 45 South Main Street, Pearl River.

The Union Arts Center holds the opening reception for The Way of Color: Blue, a photographic exhibition by Iris Brooks. Gallery hours on Sat and Sun from 1-4p, running through June 6. 3-6p at Union Arts Center, 2 Union Street, Sparkill.

Nobel Prize winning author Toni Morrison and entrepreneur, and Underground Railroad conductor Cynthia Hesdra are featured in an exhibition, 1-4p, every Sat through May. Historical Society of the Nyacks, 50 Piermont Ave.

Sunday

VCS Social Justice Film Series presents Kate Bornstein is a Queer & Pleasant Danger. A performance artist and writer, Bornstein explodes binaries while deconstructing gender—and her own identity. 2:30p-4:30p at Nyack Library, 59 S. Broadway.

53rd Annual Rockland County St. Patrick's Day Parade presented by the Rockland County Ancient Order of Hibernians. Comprised of 5,000 marchers and 25 bands, its the 2nd-largest parade of its kind in NY State. 1:30p, starting at Pfizer parking lot, Crooked Hill Road, Pearl River.

JCC Rockland International Jewish Film Festival provides a cinematic exploration and celebration of global Jewish and Israel life. 14 films screen 18 times in 2 venues, opening Mar 22 and continuing through April 30. The opening night film, Above and Beyond: The Birth of the Israeli Air Force, screens at 7p at 97 Lafayette Ave, Lafayette Theatre, Suffern.

Celeste Ray Trio celebrates St. Patricks Day with Celtic and Irish songs and ballads. 2-4p at Haverstraw Kings Daughters Library, 10 W. Ramapo Road, Garnerville.

Wednesday

Rivertown Film screens the documentary, Altman, a tribute to the maverick whose directing career spanned five decades and helped reshape moviemaking. Post-film discussion with Rivertown Film Executive Director Matthew Seig, a colleague of Altman and consultant on the documentary. 8-10p, Nyack Center.

Thursday

ArtsRock presents The Man with the Golden Flute, Sir James Galway and his flutist wife, Lady Jeanne Galway play classical and popular favorites. After party catered by Root Restaurant follows the performance. Purchase tickets in advance. 8p concert at First Reformed Church of Nyack, 18 S. Broadway, 9p after party at First Niagara Bank, across from the church.
