Nxters, block 130K is behind us, and LEASED FORGING is now available. There have been complaints about the fact that forging still isn’t the get-rich-scheme that some had hoped for, but with a trustless way of leasing your forging rights to a pool now implemented, there’s no longer any excuse for not getting what’s yours.

When leasing, you still maintain full control of your NXT – the pool simply receives your “effectiveBalance” which is only your current forging power. You can still sell any amount of your NXT or receive some. The pool cannot do anything with your NXT account or balance. When you sell/buy more during an active lease, what happens is your contribution to the pool is automatically adjusted for in the NXT protocol.

1. You do not need to leave your client open 24/7 in order to forge. (truth be told, it is better if you still do for the sake of the network)
2. If you have small amounts of NXT, it is hard to compete (in terms of chance of generating a block) with accounts that own huge amounts of NXT. Account leasing allows “small fishes” to gain more relevance. Of course that does not entirely solve your problem. If you have a few NXT, you will still get a low percentage of the fees gained by the pool since your contribution is small.
3. It is safer than before. There were already forging pools before, but you had to send them your money. This requires trust in the pool, since they can decide to keep the coins. With leased forging, you give them just your “forging power”, the coins are still in your account.
Only 30% of the stake is currently forging. In a few days Nxt Asset Exchange opens, and every asset registered pays a 1000 Nxt fee to active forgers. Also trades and arbitrary messages will add fees to the pools. If this is not incentive enough to put your Nxt to work, do it to secure the network (your money), and to get Transparent Forging (TF) to work. Forge! Big stakeholders. Forge! The rest of us. Let’s join a pool and… forge!

im also programming fork detection and block orphan detection into the whole thing, so it should be 100% smooth automatic operation.

Once upon a time, Cointropolis (Justabit and NiftyNikel) had coinpayments.net add Nxt. This is the one reason that some merchants accept Nxt payments. They also arranged the Nxt Songs of Love charity, and they hooked us up with the Trekcon Springfield Festival a long time ago. GoCoin is on the level of Bitpay and Coinbase. It allows conversion to fiat to merchant bank accounts. As we talk to more and more merchants, that’s typically a major source of pain. In addition, other services (such as ATMs) are allowing Litecoin and Doge because of their availability on GoCoin.
I’m in direct contact with the GoCoin CEO. I told him I was putting together a package similar to what I did for another coin. I like our chances.
I sent ** everything ** that requested by the payment processor. Now, we just wait and see if or case is strong enough to be included.

Nxt Mining Pools

Last month we had a big announcement.
The official public launch of hashrate.org, the first PoS multipool on the cryptocurrency scene. Since then, hashrate.org turned out to be buggy and often offline because of DDOS attacks, and miners calling out for updates were met with silence.

I took the site down a few weeks ago in order to concentrate on finishing a completely new version of the pool. It’s a complete rewrite of the backend, which was necessary to get the pool’s performance up to par. It was also necessary to redesign the backend due to the payment system being so unreliable. That’s unforgivable in mining pools, so it’s something I’ve spent an enormous amount of time and effort on. I won’t launch without it being as close to perfection as I can get it. I’m going to run a closed alpha test of the new site here in the new week or three. If you’re interested in seeing the new pool and helping me get the kinks worked out, drop me a message.Not only have I improved the payment system and rewritten the stratum routing server, but there are also a few tasty surprises in the new version that should make people very happy.

As Nxt.org will soon be ready for launch (ETA 10/4-2014) with relevant information for Nxters and Average Joe’s and Jane’s, QBTC’s first site has, in her own words, outplayed it’s role, and she has headed in a new direction.

The short version of my purpose is to make our group of very smart people working together to build Nxt into a “meme” and yes, I’ve stereotyped it and taken it over the edge to make a memorable point. I’m going to keep the many faces and the edginess for now as I believe we can rally around this and present ourselves to business and community participants in a way that they will identify with us in this building stage. No doubt, it will evolve. But, hey, this is really who we are. Let’s be bold and let the world know about the genius behind Nxt!

Thanks to ChuckOne and other Nxters, 79% of all Nxt nodes were updated to 1.0.0 at block 130k. Still, the rest is on a fork! We need to have a mailing list of all node owners, or at least know their Nxt account, so we can get that to a 100%!

After NQT_BLOCK, the above change will allow a simple way of transaction escrow.
On main net NQT_BLOCK is now set to 132000, FRACTIONAL_BLOCK at 134000, ASSET_EXCHANGE_BLOCK 135000. Any bugs in NQT or AE need to be found and fixed before that. The deadline for upgrade to 0.9.9 is block 130000, when the lease balance feature gets enabled. 0.8.13 nodes will be on a fork after that block.

At block 130,000, balance leasing is enabled. At block 132,000 transactions begin to be formatted and signed in NQT, so older clients will stop recognizing new transactions. Fractional amounts are possible but not yet enabled. Block version is also changed.At block 134,000 fractional amounts are enabled and you can specify up to 8 digits after the decimal point.
Asset exchange is enabled at block 135,000.

I think one of the biggest problems is that NXT is perceived as a challenger to bitcoin and therefore is a threat to die-hard bitcoiners. In fact, the Asset Exchange could be a huge benefit to all cryptocurrencies since it can function as a decentralised exchange. (Side point: I guess it would even be possible to come up with futures contracts, so that you could be sure your $100 of bitcoin/NXT/whatevercoin was worth $100 when you sold it for something else. That would be a huge step forward as it would avoid the need for centralised exchanges right up to the point of cashing out.)

Nxt is THE decentralisation. We should ground solution for a lot of coins on the top of Nxt. Microcurrencies, Assets, national currencies, regional currencies and business currencies.
BTC, NXT and every cryptocoins can’t be use for every activities around the world. The sectors of activities, the politics realities and the geographic situations are different and need the best solution in currencies.
Bitcoin can’t win. Their solution is not adapted to resolve the complex problems of the world financial and currency. The reality is now everybody can create a cryptocurrency : clones of Bitcoin, Nxt, Ethereum (in the future) and some other solutions.
Google and Facebook can make own cryptos. USA and China can too. In my country, there is public funds to develop some digital currencies, decentralised. I have the information from direct source. It’s coming, no information about that on BTT. The little cryptocurrencies world don’t have every information about that.
Bitcoin can’t integrate that. Nxt can offer that. We can integrate every initiative in our plateform, if we don’t do that : the world continues without us.
We need for that :
1) Technical tools to offer. (we need to develop automated solutions for simple and complex management of Assets and Monetary system)
2) Theoretical reflections and solutions to help the world to create the best currencies : adapted of the specific situation and adapted of the Nxt platform.
I want and I have the competences to help on the second need.
