“American Craft Beer Week allows everyone to honor and toast the hard work and success of the craft beer community,” said Julia Herz, publisher of CraftBeer.com and craft beer program director at the Brewers Association. “Against many odds, craft brewers have used grassroots efforts to grow the industry one glass, one bottle, one can, one keg, one growler and one customer at a time.”

With the exception of a few cities*, most of the country will be treating May 12th thru May 18th, as a regular school week, work week, or (in some cases) a vacation. The significance shouldn't be lost for those who exercise a normal schedule, as the Brewers Association is asking you to celebrate your local brewery.

To the uninitiated, American Craft Beer Week celebrates (as of 2014) over 2,800 "small and independent craft breweries" and their contributions, which have inspired beer drinkers to re-think craft beer.

This year the Brewers Association, via social media, is asking commemorators to use the "hashtag" #ACBW, while commenting or uploading photos.

Despite being a week of national recognition, there will be many in the Pacific Northwest - including breweries, distributors, restaurants, and grocers - who will be toasting craft beer in the United States.

Those celebrating in Washington include:
