NURTUREart is currently seeking a Fall 2016 Benefit Assistant. This is a part-time, temporary position.

NURTUREart transforms artists, curators, and students by providing them with support, resources, and platforms to nourish creativity and strengthen dynamic communities. We do this through:

Artistic Experimentation: NURTUREart provides space to artists and curators for experimental creation and opportunities to students for creative investigation.

Creative Exchange: NURTUREart designs accessible programming for diverse audiences to engage and participate in inspired ideas and the provoked imagination.

Innovative Learning: NURTUREart promotes equitable education for students and adults by providing unique opportunities to make, discuss, and experience contemporary art.

The annual benefit is NURTUREart’s biggest single fundraiser, as well as one of its highest profile events. The Benefit Assistant will work closely with the Events Manager, Benefit Committee, and other Board Members and staff to ensure a smoothly run event.

This opportunity is best suited for those with an interest in contemporary art, fundraising, event planning, or nonprofit arts management. Students and recent graduates are encouraged to apply. The Benefit Assistant should be meticulous, reliable, committed, energetic, flexible, and able to multi-task and work well with a variety of personalities. Experience with Microsoft Excel, Mailchimp, WordPress, or Adobe software is helpful, but not required.

Duties include:

Manage artwork submission website

Correspondence with artists regarding artwork selection

Organization of artworks submitted for jury

Data entry

Arranging artwork drop-off

Volunteer management: define needs, develop volunteer duties, solicit volunteers, and attend trainings

Maintain and update benefit website

Draft press releases, prepare mass email

Correspond with vendors and sponsors; arrange deliveries

Correspond with media; prepare print and online advertisements

Attend Benefit committee meetings, take notes

Work the Benefit as Floor Manager—oversee all volunteer areas, troubleshoot

Assist with installation, setup, take-down, and de-installation

Time Commitment:

This position runs from October 1 through November 30. The Benefit Assistant will work one day per week in October, and increase to two days per week in November. In addition to this schedule, the Benefit Assistant will be expected to work three full days: the day immediately before the benefit, the day and evening of the event, and the day after the event. This may mean working on the weekend. Attendance at 1-2 evening meetings will also be required.
