Alcorn State University
Bachelor of Science in Nursing
This is a four year nursing degree that may be completed as a general undergraduate program with a focus on nursing. As a two year option, a student must already have completed an accredited course for an associate nursing degree, but either option will give the training to practice as well as the academic background for future schooling.
Associate Degree in Nursing
The associate degree program for nursing can prepare students as either a Registered Nurse or as a Licensed Practical Nurse. These courses offer you flexibility in scheduling and may be completed at an accelerated rate. They both require 70 credit hours, but this may be done in as little as nine months.
East Mississippi Community College
Associate Degree in Applied Science
This associate course is board accredited and prepares students for becoming licensed as a Registered Nurse. The course work may be completed in as little as 18 months, but generally spans the two years. Credits from this degree may be counted towards a future BSN, and the classes train students in theory and clinical practices.
Practical Nursing Program
This is a certificate course that meets the standards of the state boards of nursing to prepare students to work as Licensed Practical Nurses. The course is twelve month long and is a full time program that covers a number of nursing applications as well as theoretical and hands on learning.

Associate Degree in Nursing
The two year associates degree is designed to train students who wish to become Registered Nurses. The course credits may be applied towards a BSN at a future time, but this degree alone is sufficient to meet nursing board standards for practice and becoming licensed.
