The 2013 National Radio Hall of Fame induction gala takes place this Saturday night (11/9) at the Museum of Broadcast Communications in the heart of downtown Chicago. Some tickets are still available for the black-tie event via the MBC website, or by calling (312) 245-8200 to reserve your seat. The Class of 2013 includes legendary former Windy City radio team Steve Dahl and Garry Meier, WJR/Detroit morning host Paul W. Smith, former 20-year After Midnight host, Blair Garner, WMJI/Cleveland personality John Lanigan, current SiriusXM personality and pioneering Hispanic radio broadcaster Eddie ‘Poilin’ Sotelo, Charley Steiner, former 14-year ESPN anchor and current member of the Los Angeles Dodgers broadcast team, and Crosley Radio Corporation and WLW/Cincinnati founder and pioneering radio broadcaster Powel Crosley, Jr. RHoF head Bruce DuMont tells NTS MediaOnline Today that, for the first time in the 21-year history of the event, this year’s show will not be broadcast live in order to allow stations greater flexibility to air the one-hour special that will be hosted by the legendary Larry King. Among the stations already signed up to air the special program are WLS and WGN in Chicago, along with WJR/Detroit, WTMJ/Milwaukee and WMJI/Cleveland. Congrats to Bruce DuMont and his National Radio Hall of Fame crew for assembling what looks to be shaping up as an evening deserving of its ‘Radio’s Biggest night of the Year’ label.
