At a recent fund raiser in California, NRIs raised $75,000 to build a 200 bed super speciality eye-hospital in Bihar.
The Shankara Eye Foundation and the Bihar Foundation USA have pledged to raise $4 million towards the initial capital cost of the hospital that aims to conduct 25,000 free surgeries every year.
Dr Jayant Kumar, project officer of the Foundation announced the US $75,000 donation as the first step towards the success of the project.
