Now that it’s summer time, the kids have been out of school for a while. I have two daughters and they have been out of school for the summer since the beginning of June. That means I have the whole summer to enjoy having them home. Sometimes that gets a bit crazy around here and you know how kids are, they don’t always get along.

Sometimes I need some me time to just sit back and relax. This is why I love to make my own sugar scrubs. These products are always great for my skin and they feel very relaxing. If you love body scrubs, then this would be a great DIY project for you as well. I love being able to make my own beauty products. You can bring this body scrub in to the shower with you to help wash away all the dead skin you may have. Get ready for some nice relaxation with this DIY body scrub.

What you’re going to need:

1 Cup Sugar

1/4 Cup Nature’s Bounty® Earthly Elements™ Sweet Almond Oil

15 Drops Grapefruit Nature’s Bounty® Earthly Elements™ Essential Oil

10 Drops Peppermint Nature’s Bounty® Earthly Elements™ Essential Oil

1 Drop Red Food Coloring

Jar with Lid

Ziploc Bag (Optional)

How you make it:

Start by putting the sugar in a bowl.

Then you want to put the sweet almond oil in with the sugar.

After that you’re going to want to mix it all up and add in the drops of essential oils. If you want it to be less of a peppermint scent, you can always add less peppermint oil too. You can always keep adding more drops of the essential oils if you want to make it stronger too. I used a lot of drops to get mine to have a stronger scent. Feel free to add less if you don’t want it as strong.

Next I put the sugar scrub in a Ziploc bag and put the one drop of food coloring in it. I put it in a Ziploc bag so that it doesn’t get the food coloring all over my dishes. It’s up to you whether you want it in a bag or not. I think it mixes better in a Ziploc bag too. After adding the food coloring, just zip up the bag and start moving it around to get to the right color. Of course you can add any colors you want, but I wanted one that looked more like a peppermint/grapefruit scent.

Then you can just start scooping your sugar scrub in to the jar. That’s all there is to it! It’s a very simple DIY Sugar Scrub and it is very relaxing for the skin. It makes you smell great too! I love being able to use this product in the shower. It’s great to use instead of soap. I think it makes my skin feel very soft and it smells amazing as well. I’ve always loved the feel of sugar scrubs when you rub it on your skin.
