Published on September 25th, 2015 | by Glenn Meyers For solar electricity boosters, the choices in PV roofing systems from a number of manufacturers keep looking brighter and brighter. At the recent Solar Power international convention in Anaheim, California, roofing manufacturer CertainTeed added to this list when it featured some of its next generation PV roofing systems, including its enhanced Solstice rack-mounted photovoltaic roofing system. Mark Stancroff, director of CertainTeed Solar, said, “For SPI 2015 we are going all out with a product showcase that offers visitors a hands-on look at our complete line of solar products.” When it come to choosing a solar shingle alternative, many potential buyers have raised questions about product warranties. According to Stancroff, CertainTeed offers customers “one of most robust warranties in the industry.” This covers both the system and its installation when the setup, providing a CertainTeed credentialed solar installer handles the job. Solstice has been positioned as CertainTeed’s “rack-mounted solar solution.” Specifically, the system features a comprehensive package of goods, including high-performance panels, inverters, racking and flashing. This system uses 60-cell monocrystalline or polycrystalline panels with power ratings from 260W to 285W. Modules are available in a variety of black and white frame and backsheet combinations. CertainTeed’s other PV roofing choices include the Apollo II solar roofing system, which uses 60-watt monocrystalline integrated PV panels. Featuring a  black frame, these cells and backsheet have a low profile design that can be  integrated with asphalt roofing shingles. Weighing 12 pounds, Apollo II does not require structural reinforcement or evaluation and is attached directly to the roof sheathing. It has a Class A fire rating and 110 mph wind rating. The 2016 SPI conference will be held September 12 – 15 at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.  Keep up to date with all the hottest cleantech news by subscribing to our (free) cleantech newsletter, or keep an eye on sector-specific news by getting our (also free) solar energy newsletter, electric vehicle newsletter, or wind energy newsletter.
