Out with the old and in with the new. Or better yet, in with the new and in with the repurposed old! Makeovers aren’t just for movies and television, and they aren’t just for people. Sometimes your home needs a bit of a makeover, too. The best part is, you don’t have to spend a ton of money for trendy decor; you can do it yourself! Pick out your own materials and create something that actually shows off your personal taste.

If you haven’t already, it is time to hop on the DIY trend. Even if you aren’t craft-inclined, some projects are not only adorable, but incredibly easy to make. All you need to do is visit a craft store for supplies and let the decorating begin!

The trick behind this piece is a balloon. Unlike your typical birthday party balloon, this project is long lasting and super easy. All you do is coat a balloon with some adhesive, cover with yarn in the colors of your choice, and apply another coat of adhesive. Once everything is dry, you pop the balloon and

Who knew a balloon could be so handy? You can create decorative bowls using a technique similar to the yarn art above. While crepe paper is great for making flowers, it doesn’t own the market. Tulle also comes in a variety of colors and is easily shaped into flowers. You can use adhesive to attach your tulle flowers to the corners of a mirror for an updated look, or tie your flowers to twine or wire for decor that you can hang on your walls, similar to string lights.

If you have a sewing machine handy and know the basics, this is a quick and easy update. Just find a fabric that you like and fashion some new pillowcases for your old throw pillows.
