This is a new section of my blog where I'll be featuring movie characters I find to be excellent source of style inspiration. And in an attempt to recreate their look, I will source clothes and accessories from various stores and put them all together with prices and direct links. Now you and me can be a little like those fashionable men in the silver screen. The first man to be featured is George Falconer because he appears in one of the best styled movies ever and because he reminds me so much of one of my best friends.

"If one is not enjoying one's present, there isn't a great deal to suggest that the future should be any better."

George Falconer played by Collin Firth is the main character in the novel turned motion picture "A Single Man". Directed by Tom Ford, the movie set in the 60's narrates a day in George's life as an English professor in a Los Angeles college living in a glass house and silently grieving over the abrupt death of his partner a year ago. It would have been like any other day except on this one, he contemplates and lays his plan to commit suicide as he finds himself unable to cope with life.

In this movie, Tom Ford makes good use of the element of style in developing both George's character and the movie's plot. It was easy for the audience to understand how he was a bit of an obsessive compulsive, a man of a perfect everyday routine with his sharp and well calculated style. Then his life is disturbed and we don't only see a Collin Firth in a well tailored suit but an intelligent man with so much sadness and despair locked up inside him. We see the irony of the perfect George facing an already meaningless life ahead.  It was an effective technique as "A Single Man" became a movie to watch not only among film lovers but in the men's fashion circle as well.
