It’s amazing how quickly the Bermuda Calendar fills up, even at this supposedly quiet time of year. Here’s what has been added to the calendar since last week!

BUEI Moves presents the return of Body Control Pilates, Level 1 and 2 classes with Caitlin Curtis, running every Friday.
Level 2 classes will be at 2pm, followed by Level 1 at 3.10pm.
The cost is $20 for members and $25 for non-members, or $180 for a 10 class package. Classes fill up quickly so you are advised to call in advance.

Chelsie Brookes will be hosting Fun Fridays, a series of adult art workshops starting on Friday, January 13th.
From 6pm until 7.30pm at Masterworks Museum, Fun Friday workshops will be a fun creative workshop that aims to teach art at a basic level with each workshop offering a new activity based off of Masterworks 30th Anniversary Exhibition. On January 13th, Chelsie will be teaching how to make wire gombey masks.
Upcoming dates for Fun Fridays are January 20th, February 3rd and 10th, and March 3rd, 10th, 17th and 31st. Activities for each of these workshops can be found at www.BermudaMasterworks.org.

Under the Distinguished Patronage of The Revd. Musawenkosi N. Daba and Mrs. Daba, The Guild of St. Mark’s Anglican Church in Smith’s Parish are hosting their First Variety Concert on Saturday, January 14th.
From 6.30pm in the Parish Hall, featured performers will include Michael Perinchief and John Moss, Dayton Wharton, Jade Minors, June Caisey, Phiemma Caisey, Sarah Madeiros, Elton Richardson, Llewelyn Hall, Peter Nash, Eliana Kirkos Dance Group, Cortez Burrows, T. Humas, Eugenia Outerbridge and others.

All are welcome aboard The Orient Express for a Murder Mystery Wine Tasting Dinner on Saturday, January 14th.
From 7pm at Tempest Bistro, each of the five courses will be paired with a complementary wine. Guests are encouraged to dress to impress in their best 1920s apparel, with prizes for the best dressed couple.

The Bermuda Arts Centre at Dockyard presents their latest exhibit Kitchen Art, opening on Sunday, January 15th.
Art isn’t just for the living room. More and more people are placing fun and whimsical works in their kitchen. The Bermuda Arts Centre is holding a fun show that includes paintings, ceramics recycled materials, tech art and interesting pieces of functional art. For those that are looking for a little fun and perhaps a little more uniqueness, this is a show not to be missed.
An extra bit of fun has been added to the show, with their Great Chocolate Cake Competition. The competition is open to all Members of BACD. The winner of the competition is awarded with a gift basket and gift certificate from Miles Market. Of course, all those that attend the opening are rewarded with the cake testing.
The opening is from 3.30pm until 5pm on Sunday, January 15th and the show runs until February 10th.
Admission is free. The Arts Centre is open daily from 11am to 4pm and is wheelchair accessible.

Back by popular demand, BUEI Films presents a 3rd showing of The Nutcracker on Sunday, January 15th.
The screening will be at 4pm in the Tradewinds Auditorium. In Peter Wright’s classic production for The Royal Ballet, the stage sparkles with theatrical magic – a Christmas tree grows before our eyes, toy soldiers come to life to fight the villainous Mouse King and Clara and the Nutcracker are whisked off to the Kingdom of Sweets on a golden sleigh. Tchaikovsky’s score contains some of ballet’s best-known melodies, from the flurrying Waltz of the Snowflakes to the dream-like Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy – all brilliantly set in Wright’s choreography. Running time 135 minutes (one interval).
This production features Bermuda’s own Ravi Cannonier-Watson!

In collaboration with the St. George’s Foundation, the latest in the Bermudian Heartbeats Lecture Series will be a Film Night with a screening of The Bermuda Depths on Thursday, January 19th.
What secret lurks 20,000 feet below the waves in the paranormal realm called the Bermuda Triangle? That’s the question a scientist, his student and a young man ask themselves. The answer involved a beauty who has sold her soul for eternal youth and a giant sea turtle that leaves death in its wake. Produced by Arthur Rankin Jr. and Jules Bass.
The screening will begin at 6pm in the World Heritage Centre, St. George’s.

Promising the funnest class ever, Improv for Beginners starts on Thursday, January 19th.
Located at Impact Mentoring Academy at Old Berkeley, this 8 week class for adults will run from 6pm until 8pm on Thursdays until March 23rd. Improv develops us in a fun way. It provides stage and life skills while we’re laughing too hard to barely notice. Natural fears are managed with a supportive vibe as well as breaking challenges into small morsels. They offer team building services too.

From 7.30pm until 9pm at The Yoga Centre, this promises to be a very informative class providing you also with the benefits of meditation, its pitfalls and its goal and how it works in daily life. A 30 minute practice will apply at each class as well as discussion and Q&A to help you better understand the practice and how and why it is a worthwhile habit to cultivate. Masterworks Museum of Bermuda Art presents their latest exhibition, Luxury Art by Carlos Santana, which will have its official opening on Saturday, January 28th.
From 6pm until 7.30pm in the Rick Faries Gallery, this will be a formal affair so come dressed to impress. Food and wine will be available from Homers Cafe. The show will run until February 22nd.
Opening hours are from 10am until 4pm, Monday to Saturday, and from 11am until 4.30pm on Sundays. Masterworks is closed on public holidays. General admission is $5, or free for members and children under 12.

In celebration of their 400th Anniversary, St. Ann’s Church are promising an out-of-this-world concert by one of Bermuda’s top 4-part harmony a cappella groups. the Ensemble Singers on Sunday, January 29th.
Starting at 4pm at St. Ann’s Church, the programme features songs in Latin, French and Hebrew, and also includes many great arrangements by the famous Moses Hogan.
