Masterworks Museum of Bermuda Art invite you to join them for the Plein Air Pop-Up exhibition.

The Reefs invite you to join them for another great Chef’s Table Event on Wednesday, February 11th.

The Travellers will be performing live for the first time at Taste 141 during their happy hour on Friday, February 13th

The February edition of the Bermuda Docs Weekend Film Series will be at BUEI on Sunday,February 15th with the documentary Just Eat It: A Food Waste Story showing at 3pm.

This is the entertaining and award-winning documentary about the issue of food waste. A Q&A with Margaret Ward, executive director of the Eliza Dolittle Society will follow the film. Please bring a non-perishable food item to the screening for distribution to someone in need.

This will be followed by Althea at 5.15pm. Althea is a profile of tennis champion Althea Gibson, whose journey from the streets of Harlem to Wimbledon tennis champion transcends sports.

The Church Girls’ Brigade and Boys’ Brigade are holding their popular fundraising Valentine’s Fair and Car Wash at St. Paul’s Church Hall on Saturday, February 15th.

From 10am until 4pm, you can browse stalls with books, plants, White Elephant, Nearly New, baked goods, DVDs and more. Donations of items for sale will be gratefully received. Lunch will also be offered with the usual delicious homemade soups, chili, hotdogs, codfish balls and chicken wingettes.

The Car Wash is $15 for small and regular sized cars and $20 for large cars and vans.

All funds raised are used to run the Boys and Girls Brigade programmes.

A great way to connect your kids with the natural world around them, the Bermuda National Trust presents its Annual Children’s Nature Walk at Spittal Pond on Tuesday, February 17th.

This is for parents and children aged between 5 and 12, running from 9.30am until noon, with groups leaving the eastern parking lot every 15 minutes.

The walk takes approximately 90 minutes, during which you can enjoy this stunning nature reserve and learn from expert volunteers about its plants, animals and habitats. You should wear suitable clothes and shoes for rugged terrain. Light snacks are available and you are invited to bring your own bottle for a trash-free event.

The walk is not suitable for dogs, baby prams or very young children. Parking is available in the field behind Harrington Hundreds grocery store.

Come and hear Bermuda’s music legends from the past and present at Profiles in Harmony: Part 2 at 7.30pm at BUEI on Tuesday, February 17th.

Enjoy a short film by Dale Butler featuring Bermuda music legends Dilton Lightbourne (musical saw), Jean Howes (accordion), Professor Keith Caisey (percussionist) and Bobbie Barton (harmonica) with a special tribute to the late “Chalky” Virgil, Syke Laws and Earl Darrell. Enjoy live performances from Stan “Lord” Necktie, Bobby Barton and Elca Maranzana. Q&A session at the end. An event not to be missed!

The lecture will start at 7.30pm in the Tradewinds Auditorium and Harbourfront are offering a 10% discount (food only) to anyone dining there before or after the event. As part of the Historical Heartbeats Lecture Series, there will be a film night at Bermuda National Library on Thursday, February 19th.

From 6pm, there will be a screening of Bermuda and World War II (Parts I, II and III) from Brendan Hollis’ About Bermuda series.

The years of World War II constituted an exceptionally important period in Bermuda’s history and the events as they relate to Bermuda should be understood and remembered by all Bermudians with pride.

Months were spent between Bermuda, London and Washington in the search for documents, photographs, and films needed to produce this documentary.

This event is free to the public.

Here’s an opportunity to get your vehicle clean while helping The Bermuda High School raise funds at their Car Wash on Saturday, February 21st.

This will run from 9am until 2pm at the Esso Station on Richmond Road and funds raised will buy building materials to build a dam in the Om Goi region of Thailand by 12 students and 4 adults from The Bermuda High School in March 2015.

The cost is $20 for a car and $15 for a bike. Tickets can be obtained from Mrs L. Lewis in the Bermuda High School reception or just pay on the day.

The Annual Commemorative Service for the 200th Anniversary of the Death of Midshipman Richard Sutherland Dale, USN, will be on Saturday, February 21st.

Midshipman Dale died aged 20 in Bermuda on February 22nd, 1815 of wounds received while fighting against the Royal Navy in the war of 1812. He was one of the last casualties of that war. His parents were touched by the kindness with which Bermudians cared for their son.

The event will begin with an introduction at 5pm in King’s Square, St George’s, in front of the Butterfield Bank Building (former Stennett’s Hotel, where he died) and then will proceed to his grave in St. Peter’s historic graveyard for the service at 5.15pm.

A reception and dinner will be held at 6pm at the Tempest Bistro on Water Street in St. George’s, with guest speaker Robert Settje, US Consul General. In addition, an Art Auction will be held to benefit The Friends of St Peter’s Church. The cost for the dinner and reception is $95 per person.

Registration is now open for Argus Walks the Walk, a charity 5K fun walk organised by the Centre on Philanthropy and sponsored by the Argus Group, on Sunday, February 22nd.

Warm-up will be at 8.15am for an 8.30am start and the Walk will start and finish in front of the Argus Building on Wesley Street. This is a rain or shine event.

The registration fee is $25 and $20 goes to the charity of your choice with the other $5 going to support www.volunteer.bm, Bermuda’s only volunteer recruitment website. Participants are encouraged to form teams to raise even more money for their charity.

The first 1200 registrants will receive a free t-shirt and prizes will be given for the largest corporate, youth and non-profit teams, As well as the teams with the best coordinated outfits, the best choreography, and the best cheer.

Head to Bermuda National Library for A Roundtable Discussion on Bermudian Dialect at 6pm on Tuesday, February 24th

The moderators for the evening will be Stephan Johnsone (spoken word artist and creator of poetry albums including Librago and The Script Keeper), Britanni Cann-Fubler (Speech and Language Pathologist, researcher for “How You Hanlin’ Me?: A presentation on The Bermudian Dialect”), Chris Astwood (poet, Ph.D. candidate in Creative and Critical Writing, University of East Anglia) and Ronald Lightbourne (poet).

Friends of the College Library presents Preserving Your Family History: A Talk On Genealogy With Dr. Jolene Bean, Professor of History on Wednesday, February 25th.

Now in its 50th year, Bermuda’s youngest artists will be celebrated at the Bermuda Annual Schools Art Show which will return to Bermuda Society of Arts at City Hall on Friday, February 27th.

This year’s show is split into two separate exhibits with the Primary Schools showing between February 27th and March 18th, while the Middle and Senior Schools will exhibit between March 20th and April 8th.

The opening receptions will be on Friday, February 27th and Friday, March 20th at 5pm.

Admission is free and all are welcome.

Don’t miss being part of Bermuda’s best recycling event as the Bermuda National Trust (BNT) invite you to join them at the Jack King and Commercial Slat House Buildings in the Botanical Gardens for their Annual Auction and Jumble Sale from Thursday, March 5th to Saturday, March 7th.

Donations are needed and gratefully accepted, particularly furniture in good condition made of solid wood, antiques and cedar items (but please no pressed board items), outdoor furniture that is in reasonable condition, upholstered furniture in good condition, Bermuda books, dinner sets and services, glassware sets, silver and plate ware and good decorative items, and one good item for the auction. Please no pianos, waterbeds or mattresses.

Drop-off times for donations will be from 1pm until 4pm on the 1st, 8.30am until 5.30pm on the 2nd, and 8.30am until 2pm on the 3rd. The Jumble Sale and Auction Preview will be on Thursday, March 5th from 8.30am until 6.30pm and on Friday, March 6th from 8.30am until 2pm. The Auction itself is on Saturday, March 7th from 10am until completion.

A well-loved Bermuda institution will soon be back for the summer season with the return of Harbour Nights on Wednesday, June 3rd.

This will be in the usual time-slot from 7pm until 10pm and will continue every Wednesday up until September 2nd.

Harbour Nights is an event where visitors and Bermudians can connect in a fun-filled family atmosphere. Bermudians have the opportunity to showcase their unique talents and gifts for the world. Visitors and locals alike are given unique cultural experience, in a casual alfresco environment that marries art, shopping, dining and entertainment all under the evening sun.

Masterworks is pleased to announce an Open Call for Submissions to the seventh Charman Prize.

The Charman Prize was established in 2008 with the opening of the Masterworks Museum of Bermuda Art and it awards cash prizes totalling $21,000. It is open to all artists who have been residents of Bermuda for at least six months and to Bermudian artists who reside overseas.

The Charman Prize entry forms are available online at www.BermudaMasterworks.com and the deadline for entry is 5pm on Thursday, June 25th. The show itself will take place in October 2015.
