The New Testament Church of God, Miracle Temple in Devonshire is hosting a Women’s Discipleship Weekend from Friday, March 7th until Sunday, March 9th. This will commence at 7pm on the Friday with a one-night Impartation Service at Miracle Temple. On Saturday, March 8th, there will be a Fit & Full Fellowship Breakfast at 8.30am at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess. The cost is $50 per person. Finally on Sunday, March 9th there will be two Worship Experience Services at Miracle Temple at 11.15am and 5pm. Parents, looking for ways to entertain and/or educate your little ones over the summer break? The Saltus Association are hosting a Summer Camp and Activities Mini Fair on Friday, March 7th. This will run from 5pm until 7pm in the Saltus Junior School Hall (enter from St. John’s Road) and aims to be a one-stop shop for parents trying to find out about the wide variety of summer programmes available to children in Bermuda. This year, over 30 local and international summer camp programmes will be represented at the fair. This event is open to the public with free admission. For more information, contact pts@saltus.bm.
Cedarbridge Academy invite you to an evening of music, dance and skits at their Spirit of Love Benefit Concert at the Ruth Seaton James Centre for the Performing Arts at 7pm on Saturday, March 8th. Titan and Thailon Pogson were born in December and are the grandsons of Patricia Nesbitt. They suffered medical issues and this concert will help with their hospital bills. Featured performers include Somerset Brigade Band, Cindy Smith, Gina Love, Jermaine Jeffers, Shine Hayward, Gina Spence, Improv Bermuda and many more. To celebrate, Bermuda Folk Club are hosting a special Irish Night at Spanish Point Boat Club on Saturday, March 8th. Doors open at 7.30pm and music will be from 8pm, featuring talented local performers playing all styles of music, focusing on Irish music and artists. Looking for a new way to deal with stress? How to Live a Joyful Life: Inner Sanctuary Training is a 4 week class on Wednesdays, beginning March 12th, from 6pm until 8pm at My Sereni-Tea. The classes will contain an even mix of lecture, discussion, process work and meditation. This is a Delphi University Course and attendees will receive a certificate from Delphi after course completion. The next in the Historical Heartbeats Winter Lecture Series will be a Film Night on Thursday, March 13th, screening two 30 minute films at Bermuda National Library. This event is a collaboration with the Bermuda National Library and the Bermuda Historical Society and will begin at 6pm. Both films are from Brendan Hollis’ About Bermuda series. The first film, Bermuda Cedar, charts the ways this endemic plant played an important role in Bermuda’s history and social development, influencing architecture, lifestyle and commerce. The Easter Lily tells the fascinating story of the rise and fall of a major agricultural crop. It shows the lovely fields of lilies on St. David’s Island, before the land was given up for building the U.S. Bases in WWII. It also shows the extent and value of the industry, and its final decline. Dr. Walwyn Hughes will serve as moderator for the evening. This event is free to the public. Foodies, rejoice as Michelin Star Executive Chef Bruno Davaillon is joining Rosewood Tucker’s Point as guest chef in March! Chef Bruno will be joining forces with Tucker’s Point Executive Chef Guido Brambilla to take guests on a culinary journey for a weekend of entertainment as well as education from Thursday, March 13th to Sunday, March 16th. The Culinary Weekend Adventure Package will celebrate Bermuda lobster season and, during the weekend, participants will experience the differences in taste and preparation between Bermuda and Maine Lobsters while also sampling a variety of Bermudian cuisine. Additionally, guests will experience the traditional way local fishermen catch lobster and learn how to prepare the famous Lobster Tagliolini. The fun-filled weekend will culminate on Saturday evening with a five-course Gala Dinner prepared by Chef Bruno and the Rosewood Tucker’s Point culinary team. Spaces are extremely limited and reservations may be made by calling Brandon Bratcher directly at (214) 880-4259. The cost is $4500 per couple, which includes access to all culinary events, two spa treatments, two rounds of golf as well as breakfast, lunch and dinner daily. Guests can still experience Chef Bruno Davaillon’s Michelin Star cooking by attending the five-course Gala Dinner in The Point on Saturday, March 15th. The public is invited to attend the Dedication of the Walter Maddocks Memorial Rotary Clock outside City Hall at noon on Friday, March 14th. This 4-faced Rotary clock is dedicated to the memory of the late Walter Maddocks who exemplified the work of Bermuda’s Rotarians with a lifetime of service at home and abroad. A 45 strong Salvation Army band and choir visiting from Peterborough, Ontario, will also provide music for the enjoyment of the public. This event is a joint effort of the Rotary Clubs of Hamilton, St.George’s, Sandys and Pembroke and the Corporation of Hamilton. The clock will serve hereafter as a public amenity.

Workshop promises to show you how to Identify thoughts and feelings that are blocking you in your life and how to change them in order to live a life being happy, joyous and free. The March edition of the Bermuda Docs Weekend Film Series will be on Sunday, March 16th in the usual location of the Tradewinds Auditorium at BUEI. Dear Mr. Watterson, a documentary about comic strip characters Calvin and Hobbes, will be showing at 3pm. This will be followed by On My Way, a French comedic drama starring Catherine Deneuve, at 5.15pm. More details on the films can be found at www.bermudadocs.com. As a greedy girl, I get very excited by this kind of thing – the City Food Festival will run from Monday, March 17th until Saturday, March 22nd. From 8am until 9am (or while supplies last) on the 17th, they will kick off the Food Festival with a complimentary continental breakfast in front of City Hall. Later that same afternoon, a lunchtime event will be hosted at International Imports – full details on this will follow. On the Tuesday to Thursday, there will be three rounds of Chef Competitions at Bermuda Gas from 5.30pm until 8.30pm. All Chefs will be tasked with preparing a three distinctly different canapés from a box of ingredients. Attendees will be able to sample each chef’s creation while enjoying complimentary signature beverages provided by Gosling’s, and entry into a raffle prize. Tickets to the competition are $20 per night or $50 for a passport to all three rounds. On the Friday, there will be a Wine Tasting event at Gosling’s Wine Cellar - full details on this will follow.
The finale event will be a Food Festival in Victoria Park on Saturday, March 22nd. From 2pm until 10pm, more than a dozen City restaurants and bars will be featured, offering a wide variety of foods and specialty drinks. This year, the focus is on the many cultures that help make Bermuda the melting pot that it is. They will have live cultural performances thoughout the day, competitions, demonstrations and a live band to lead into the night. Tickets for the Victoria Park Food Festival are $40 for 5 tickets, or $10 for single tickets. All tickets will be available in advance from www.pTix.bm or at the event. The last two have been so popular that the Trivia Quiz Night at Taste One Four One is now a regular event! This will be held on the first and third Monday of every month, with the next one being on March 17th. The monthly Ciné Club from L’Alliance Française des Bermudes will be showing Requiem pour une Tueuse (Requiem for a Killer) at 8pm on Tuesday March 18th. This French movie with English subtitles tells the story of a contract killer who accepts an assignment to pose as a soprano in a festival her target is singing in. Saturday, March 29th is the last Saturday of the month, which means that it’s Super Saturday at Masterworks in the Botanical Gardens! Each month has a different theme and this one will be Space and Beyond, where families can participate in free themed arts and craft activities from 10am until 2pm. Billed as a Big People Party, D’General presents Return Fete 2014 from 9pm on Saturday, March 29th. This event will take place at Jenny’s Car Park on the site of the Old Bermuda Bakery on Pitts Bay Road. The headliner will be Farmer Nappy, fresh from Trinidad Carnival and in Bermuda for the first time. Featured DJs will include D’General, Russell ‘Rusty G’ Griffith and Jugglin Jason. As part of the Bermuda Yoga Festival, renowned Kirtan chant recording artists C.C. White and David Newman (Durga Das) are coming to Bermuda with their bands to perform at two separate Kirtan Chant Concerts in the Mid-Ocean Ampitheatre at the Fairmont Southampton on Friday, April 4th and Saturday, April 5th. You are invited to join in and chant along with the live musicians and, if you don’t sing, fear not as Kirtan creates the ultimate space where you can sing as if no one can hear you, dance, or simply enjoy. David Newman’s (Durga Das) concert will be on April 4th and C.C. White’s concert will be on April 5th, with Bermuda’s own kirtan band and kirtan chant group opening each concert. Doors open at 6.30pm and showtime is at 7pm with the main act beginning at 8pm. Tickets are $55 per concert, $95 for both concerts, and free for under-12s. Always a popular event on the Bermuda Calendar, Teachers Football Rugby Club (TRFC) presents Fight Night XVI: Relentless, an evening of both Boxing and Muay Thai, on Saturday, April 5th at Berkeley Institute Gym. Relentless was a common word spoken & lived by TRFC’s fallen soldier Devrae Noel- Simmons and so this event is a tribute to his Relentless spirit. Doors open at 6pm and the first fight starts at 7pm. The fight card will feature Bermudian boxer Andre Lambe against Canadian boxer Nick Hoover, Corey Boyce vs. Shannon Ford, Talia Iris in a kickboxing match against Canadian Muay Thai fighter Shelby Marchand, many more exciting amateur matches, and the main event of the night will be Bermuda’s World Wushu Silver Medalist Jermal Woolridge ” The Animal ” challenging Canadian WXC Warrior Joey Brozovich. Fightgoers can also expect ring girls from Alchemy Fitness, music courtesy of DJ Donnie, and sponsors Gorham’s, Burrows and Lightbourn and Dunkley’s. Tickets are $50 for general admission, $110 for VIPs (includes open bar served to your seat) and part proceeds will benefit the The Dante Noel-Simmons Education Fund. The Bermuda School of Music will present the 17th Annual Some Enchanted Evening with special guests Blazin’ Fiddles on Saturday, April 26th. As with rare Scotch single malts, the members of award winning Blazin’ Fiddles, a Scottish fiddle group, draw a distinct flavour of music from the Scottish Highlands and Islands. The Bermuda School of Music faculty and students will kick off this year’s event with the orchestra accompanying four classical concertos, leading the way for the members of the award winning Blazin’ Fiddles to deliver a musically intoxicating finale for all. The show begins at 7.30pm in the Earl Cameron Theatre at City Hall. Tickets cost $40 for adults, $15 for children or $100 for Patrons and are available from www.pTix.bm.
