Too Many T’s / Blizzard MC / EEK The Alien

Leon Rhymes and Ross Standaloft met a few years ago whilst at a house party at University. After many late nights of hilarious booze fuelled writing sessions, the collaborations between the pair continued to flow and Too Many T’s was born. Too Many T’s have crafted a faithful following with their Golden Era Hip Hop formula; positive vibes, trademark back to back, rapid fire flows and turbo-charged performances. Championed by music industry figures such as John Kennedy and Rob Da Bank and now considered to be one of the UK’s freshest live Hip Hop acts, Too Many T’s have turned heads and pricked ears with both music fans and press alike. Tonight’s show at Kraak is part of their biggest UK tour to date and is in support of their 4-track EP ‘Beats We Wish We Had‘.

Support comes from legends of Don’t Flop Blizzard MC and Eek The Alien. Blizzard MC has been making waves in UK Hip Hop since the age of 11, as a member of Mayhem Crew. With over 5 million hits, Blizzard infamous battle against English Teacher Mark Grist is still the most watched video Jump Off have created. In 2013 1Xtra named Blizzard one of this years ‘hot 10‘. Eek The Alien is a rising star of Don’t Flop Entertainment, with a twisted flow and insane pace, he made a name for himself trouncing acts and propelling himself to the upper tiers of Don’t Flop. Having put out a number of mixtapes including ‘Crack‘ and ‘The Paranoia Within‘, his debut album, ‘eeK=MC²’ will be released imminently.

All For Nothing with Joe / DANCE / Dan Hampson

Hessle Audio / Hemlock Recordings’ Joe has been one of the most enigmatic and interesting creators of electronic music in the last 5 years. Releases have touched on a fascinating range of influence, from jazz, disco, folk and more – all backed by a solid and inventive use of sub bass. He’ll be playing tracks that have shaped his sound and some new work. DANCE has built his Blank Mind label into one of the most energetic imprints of the moment. Jab Jab music from Grenada, early footwork from the heart of Chicago, Grime influenced bass music from the Peak District and his own pensive club music have found equal acclaim after release. This represents his first trip to play in Manchester. Dan Hampson completes the bill.

The Ruby Lounge

King Kurt / Cheapskates / Wasted Daze

In 1983 King Kurt hit the Top 40 with ‘Destination Zululand‘ on Stiff Records.  They’d already built up a frenzied following at their riotous gigs, famously strewn with all sorts of muck thrown both at and from the audience whilst also offering haircuts and drinking competitions! Their first release was on Thin Sliced Records with the ‘Zulu Beat’ 7” in numerous vinyl editions.  ‘Smeg’ soon replaced original singer Jeff Harvey and the band – ‘Thwack’ (Paul Laventhal), ‘Maggot’, John Reddington, Bert Boustead and Rory Lyons – started hamming it up wearing dresses and having food fights. They signed to Stiff Records and Dave Robinson’s video of ‘Destination Zululand’ showing their cartoonish tongue-in-cheek style helped propel them to the top 40. Tonight they head to The Ruby Lounge with Cheapskates and Wasted Daze for a mess free gig!!
