Matt & Phreds

Dreamer

Dreamer is an 8 piece funk ‘n’ soul band from Manchester fronted by vocalist Pete Giles. The band has been together for about 2 years and during that time they have been making a name for themselves as one of the funkiest bands in town! The group is an unusual mixture of three music students, a music teacher and her dad and three other fine musicians who came together by a series of happy accidents and stayed together “because it just worked“. They play tunes ranging from 70′s funk like Gil Scott-Heron, The Isley Brothers and Bill Withers through to more recent material by Jill Scott, Erykah Badu and others on the funkier side of soul. They like to think that if they can’t get you dancing you’re probably in an urn on someone’s mantelpiece!

Band On The Wall

Session Americana

The American folk-roots supergroup Session Americana bring their gorgeous sour-mashed sound to Band on the Wall. No two Session Americana shows are alike. They’re rowdy, freewheeling modern hootenannies that surprise the audience as much as they surprise the Somerville, Massachusetts sextet. Session Americana has innovatively recast the live show experience as a familial gathering of musicians seated at a round table swapping songs and instruments. Although the musicians face each other, the audience feels drawn into the circle, engaged by the joyous camaraderie, playful musicality, and charmingly original music of this all-star cast of characters. Come pull up a stool with the band for a fantastic night out in the intimacy and unique atmosphere of Band on the Wall.

Othello

Shakespeare’s tragic hero Othello, played by Amine Fourket, is led by Iago into a dark and twisted world of fear, anger and jealousy. Collaborating with various artists to tell this well known thriller which deals with the darker side of love, Theatre By Numbers will use movement and an original musical score (created by Tom Woolsgrove) within the performance as we bear witness to the surreptitious plans of Iago, played by Andy Avery. Rebecca Derrick is to perform the wronged Desdemona (as well as other characters) with a fire and energy identified as being in love, while Nicole Gaskell takes on multiple roles as the young and charming Cassio, accused of seducing Desdemona, and Emilia, Iago’s wife and duped accomplice.

Placing Othello within a timeless and versatile setting, the story is told within a modern attitude and context. The characters are recognised and likeable and the tale enthralling to all who have encountered love with its entirety of highs and lows.
