Kraak

Pop Indie Rock with Roscoe / Nathan Barratt & his Mates and more

Pop Indie Rock bring a range of different indie artists for you tonight at the wonderful Kraak Gallery. You will hear sets from Roscoe - Formed from the ashes of two other bands in Late 2010, their focus is on songwriting and with influences ranging from Blues to Funk, Punk to dance, Grunge to Hip Hop which lends itself to an eclectic set of songs, Nathan Barratt and his Mates - Their style is characterised by strong grooves, fun riffs and catchy melodies. Multi-instrumentalists, the band members swap instruments depending on the song, and between a screaming saxophone, wailing guitar solos and heavy bass lines, the songs span multiple genres, invoking both a fun and powerful atmosphere. Adjective Animal - Featuring an experimental and often ambient sound, with themes of coming to terms with change. They were described by The Guardian as “downbeat alternative rock” and Chemistry Lane - Gaining a reputation for their meticulous approach to composing experimental indie music. With layered instrumental depth and the juxtaposition of delicately bold melody, Chemistry Lane create a sound which is totally unique but remains captivatingly familiar.

meandyou featuring Ron Morelli

Due to circumstances beyond their control Ron Morelli couldn’t attend meandyou’s 5th birthday party back in August 2013, so they’ve invited him back to play their first party of the New Year down in the basement at Soup Kitchen. Since it’s inception 3 years ago, Ron Morelli’s L.I.E.S. (Long Island Electrical Systems) imprint has gone from strength to strength, dominating numerous best of lists and helping to bridge the gap between lo-fi aesthetics and the dance floor. In 2010 Morelli started the label as an outlet for his own and his contemporaries productions that he had been collecting. The label exploded onto the scene by injecting a rawness that was lacking at that time, and has introduced a catalogue of new artists such as Delroy Edwards, Xosar, Florian Kupfer, Svengalisghost, Vereker, Terekke, Willie Burns, amongst others, as well as featuring more established artists such as Legowelt, Steve Summers and Maxmillion Dunbar. As you can imagine the guys at meandyou are particularly excited about bringing Ron back to Manchester after a 2 year absence.
