Soup Kitchen

Eastern Bloc Records with Pangaea

Kevin Mcauley aka Pangaea makes up one third of the celebrated UK label Hessle audio, one that Eastern Bloc constantly supported in the shop and had a keen ear for since it’s inception. Tonight they bring Pangaea to the Soup Kitchen basement for a 3 hour set that promises to delve deep into his ever developing sound. With a new found love of all things techno, which was competently displayed on Fabriclive:73, they’re looking forward to hearing a fresh take on things. With his own label, Hadal, set to release No.2 in the series very soon and a gig schedule that includes Dimensions, Free Rotation and Dekmantel Festival it looks as if they’ve caught him at the right time for a nice intimate 200 person setting. Support comes from Eastern Bloc residents Means&3rd and Radley. Hope you can make it. Will be the last one for a while.

Honeyfeet released their debut album “It’s A Good Job I Love You” on Debt Records in November 2013, and the single and video for “Buried My Husband” followed in February 2014. Kraak

Zaimph / Heather Leigh / Desmadrados Soldados De Ventura / Kelly Jones & Pascal Nichols

Zaimph is the project of US sound experimentor Marcia Bassett who, after years of brain melting guitar abuse with Double Leopards, GHQ, Hototogisu and the like, has slid the 6-string to one side to make way for a tabletop full of custom-built oscillators and pedals, with which she creates thick, harsh layers of tonal warmth. She has recently also, in recent times, collaborated with Samara Lubelski (MV&EE, Chelsea Light Moving, etc) and Yek Koo. Heather Leigh is a Texas-born pedal steel player (now resident in Glasgow where she co-runs the Volcanic Tongue record store) who treats the instrument like no other. Desmadrados Soldados De Ventura is a 9-piece free-rockin’ psychedelic swarm from Manchester and Kelly Jones & Pascal Nichols are the Manchester duo best known as Part Wild Horses Mane On Both Sides, tonight playing under their own names but nevertheless still doing that incredible thing they do. See them all at Kraak tonight.
