Successfully addressing the concerns of its million users, the social networking giant, Facebook has introduced the Anonymous Login feature.

The new Facebook Login tool gives the user an option to choose what Facebook credentials they want to share with third-party apps and websites they log in.

In 2014, Facebook announced at the f8 developer’s conference that it will implement a new API soon, which empowers the user to choose the info they wish to share. Facebook gave the developers nearly a year to make suitable changes in their apps in order to integrate smoothly with the new Login Page.

Simon Cross, Facebook Product manager, warns that if the developer has not yet made the app compatible with the tool, it is likely to crash after the new Login Page.

Previously, all Facebook information of the user would instantaneously become available to the apps, when the user signed into these apps or websites via Facebook Login.

With the adoption of this updated tool, now when the users will tap "Log in with Facebook" in an app, they will be navigated to the Facebook Login page. This page will provide the "Edit the info you provide" option to the users, enabling them to either grant or deny access to various types of information. Within the option users can simply uncheck the info they don't want to share with the app or website.

Say, if someone wants to share their email address with an app, but not their birthday, they can make that choice by simply unchecking the ‘birthday’ option. Also, the app or website will also not be able to post anything on Facebook without the permissionof the user.

The new Login is slated to be rolled out in the next few months, and the update app control panel will be available in the coming weeks.
