intu Eldon Square is beginning to welcome the start of 20 new restaurants into it's much anticipated and brand new Grey's Quarter this weekend. The new dining quarter will offer a vast array of cuisine from around the world from first thing in the morning to late into the evening. Whether it's fine dining, a casual coffee, pizza with the kids, a long weekend brunch, a place to meet friends or somewhere to try innovative and exciting cocktails - intu Eldon Square will have the venue for you.

I have fond memories of dining at ASK in the Gate during my late teens/early twenties. Steve and I used to think it was the height of sophistication! HAHA! We haven't visited in years though (is it still even there??) but we do love visiting ASK when we visit Scarborough every Summer. We always find Ask to be super family friendly and the kids love their Bambinochinnos.
There are a few restaurants opening that I have never tried before including Tapas Revolution - I've checked and they serve platters of Iberico , Chorizo and Jamon - that's all that is needed to tempt us through their doors. They serve jugs of Sangria at half price during happy hour too.
I have known people travel all the way to Leeds for lunch just to sample Red's True Barbeque. It really is supposed to be that good! Crackling, Beef Jerky, Pit Smoked BBQ Wings, Black Angus Brisket and Burnt Ends.......it all sounds right up my street! They have a decent kids menu too which is reasonably priced from £4.95 for 2 courses, a side and a drink.
The kids loved visiting Giraffe at Kingston Park which has sadly closed now and I am sure it will be a huge hit with families who are after somewhere informal to eat. It looks fun and welcoming and we will definitely be working our way through their breakfast menu.
Lots of the kids' favourite chains are going to be here so it's going to be hard deciding where to visit first. The kids adore Frankie & Benny's, Chiquitos, T.G.I Fridays and Bella Italia. Yes I know they are chains but my personal opinion is that there is room for everyone and as a family, chain restaurants have usually delivered the goods for us and the kids know exactly what to expect.
I am super excited about the imminent arrival of Chaophraya. Offering inspirational Thai Dining and Cocktails in a beautiful rooftop setting offering commanding views across the city - it's definitely going to be top of my next 'date night' list with Steve when it opens.
I think Chatime is going to be a very interesting addition to Newcastle and offers something a bit different to 'meeting for a coffee', you'll find fresh Bubble Tea in a huge variety of interesting flavours. I can't wait to try something new and fun!
George's Great British Kitchen is NOW OPEN. Described as a traditional pub serving British food with a twist, you must check out their Instagram and lust over their 'proper food'.
I am just beyond excited about The Alchemist finally arriving in Newcastle. I've heard good SO many good things from friends who live in Leeds and Manchester and if it's anything like the Botanist, I predict it's going to turn into one of my favourite spots in the city.
