Corona, CA – Corona based dentists, Dr. Shital Patel and Dr. Rakesh Patel were among the top dentists who attended the July 2016 Annual International Clinical Symposium held at the Austin Hilton in Austin, TX. The symposium is an annual event that is organized by the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain, which is a professional organization for dentists whose interests lie in the diagnosis, assessment, and management of patients suffering dentistry sleep disorders, craniofacial pain and temporomandibular joint disorders.
AACP holds recognition from ADA CERP, which is an American Dental Association service that assists dental experts in discovering and utilizing quality providers for continuous dental education. Among the main topics covered were facial asymmetry associated with cranial vertebral-cranial mandibular disorders facing headache patients. Another topic covered was a dental perspective of correcting posture. Retrognathia in people-a modern disease with ancient explanations-was also featured, as was a lecture in dimensional morph-tropic approach to an airway focused facial dental growth modification.
With the knowledge acquired at this symposium, Dr. Shital Patel and Dr. Rakesh Patel said, “We can now understand that the human gene faces clear impacts arising from environmental circumstances. This impact starts as early as during pregnancy. Our skills in diagnosing and treating breathing disorders, sleep disorders, and cranial-facial pain have seen enhancement from this and other such symposiums.”
Dr. Patel was especially fascinated by a lecture about the next generation of dentistry care through integrative treatment. He said, “As a Dentist in Corona, I can now recognize better those relationships existing between craniofacial pain, bruxism, sleep apnea and gastric reflux. I can identify and use several tests for oral pathogens in evaluating inflammation factors affecting oral health, and can use these tremendous opportunities available for elevating dentistry. I strongly believe in our role as the gatekeeper of systemic health. We as dentists quite often have the opportunity to see our patients on a more regular basis than their physicians do and hence have the ability to help our patients not just with their oral health, but with their overall health.”
