I always enjoy seeing what little tweaks or large hauls other designers do for themselves or clients. As a designer let me tell you that no client will be as hard on you as yourself. I can make things for other people that I just love and can get so creative, but when it comes to myself I tend to stall and get so overwhelmed. The reason being mainly is because you know that your site is a reflection of you and your work. I mean would you want someone that has a clown face to do your makeup? Enough said!
Somewhere in the past year something happened to me. I just got this new confidence with my work and was finally happy with myself and the work I was doing. I no longer felt like I had to try so hard or that I was not good enough. Yes, this is a thing that I think most designers struggle with especially now that so many seem to being taking the same path. I am not embarrassed to admit my struggles or thoughts. And I am proud to say that I am finally okay with myself and my work.
Okay let me get back to the design of my blog here. As I said I was never fully happy with the way my site looked. When I moved to WordPress a year ago that was the best thing I could have done. Blogger was really holding me back in several ways, but I also was finally learning how to design for myself. Every time I would change my look I liked it, but I never loved it. But, as you all know I have kept this look for awhile now. I just love this look and it is so me and makes me happy or once.
I always keep the overall design and through the seasons I tweak something here and there so I thought I would share with you all these little things that I do. They are probably not even noticeable and that’s good. With time you just learn what works and what does not.
New Features
1. My scroll bar was see through before and just was not working. I changed it to white, but it’s still non-scrolling.
2. I changed some of the items on my blog from gray to a pretty pink like the date, quotes and links. I also changed the post titles and menu items to all caps, made the font smaller and expanded the space between the letters.
3. I added space between my post area and sidebar. I liked them being closer before, but now I like the space.
4. Hello Noor it’s 2014, change me!
5. I changed all the borders from charcoal to black.
6. I finally fixed the avatar area so the usual WordPress gravatar does not show. Now I have my own custom image that matches my site.
7. I removed the spam button from comments not because I do not love it (I do so much), but it’s working funny on sites these days and you can not even see it. I also removed font friday from my categories since I will not be doing that anymore. They are all under fonts/type now.
