Young feminist documentary filmmaker Cassie Jaye has taken on subjects that many have considered controversial in her short career. From “Daddy I Do” a documentary about religious abstinence programs to “The Right To Love” a film about same-sex marriage advocacy. Cassie has elected to take on her toughest challenge yet, giving the Men’s Rights Movement a fair shake in “The Red Pill”.
It’s been a real challenge for Cassie to get funded, and feminists have threatened career suicide on her. It took Milo Yianoppolous making a plea via Breitbart to actually draw attention to Cassie’s kickstarter to get her the funding she needed, most of which came not from Feminists or MRAs.
So now the film has had a premiere this past Friday, and early reviews are starting to trickle out. On the Rotten Tomatoes website, there is only one critic review up, and it’s very negative, some choice quotes are:
“…for two agonizing hours, Jaye tumbles slowly down America’s stupidest rabbit hole, discovering that Men’s Rights Activists are actually just dudes who have been dicked over by a culture that punishes masculinity.”
“I do cherish one flourish: an animated sequence of falling snowflakes, each with a different MRA complaint printed on it, meant to illustrate the movement’s diversity of grievances. There’s “Misandry”! There’s “Restraining Orders”! Even the metaphor is hilariously white.”
” Thanks to David Futrelle’s invaluable site We Hunted the Mammoth for collecting Elam’s most horrible bleatings.”
Meanwhile, the five audience reviews are currently showing %100 fresh. It’s still too early to tell, but I remain optimistic that this film could make some waves. We know one thing, Cassie Jaye, you are a honey badger now, no matter what you took away from this experience.
