Another win for Nokia and Microsoft! Telefonica Germany, the largest broadband and telecommunications providers in the said country, ditches their Blackberry phones for Nokia Lumia!

Adding up with the growing list of companies trusting the WP8-powered Nokia Lumia series is Telefonica Germany (trades as O2 Germany), the largest carrier in Germany after recently acquiring E-Plus (another mobile telecom operator). A rumored “leaked document” proved the replacement of Blackberry handset with Lumia, particularly 520 and 925, which will be used by the company’s employees.

As the Lumia smartphones are gaining attention from business and telecom companies, particularly due to its unique features and low pricing, its team-up with Microsoft also adds an advantage. The Window Software, the latest version being Windows 8, still remains as the leading computer software used in different fields. The Lumia handsets compatibility with the said software, and the production of WP-exclusive MS products for mobile use (Office, Excel, etc.), makes Lumia a must-have tool for professionals. In the translation of the said leaked document, Alexander Hoffman, Group Manager of Platform Deployment in ST says,

“The integration of Windows products in our System landscape is very simple. This is reflected in the smooth synchronization of Calendar entries and e-mails, but also the unrestricted access to all Office applications. So you can, on the Windows interface, for example, open and edit PowerPoint documents or ExceI tables. The widely-known problems in representing and editing Office documents with iOS and Android devices do not exist with Windows Phone.”

This move of Telefonica is also said to help in conserving the company’s finances. According to Mario Buchner, Executive Assistant to MD Corporate Affairs & Strategy for Telefonica Germany,

”With the new mobile service control we now use our internal strategic cooperation with Microsoft to save time and high costs. For the next year we are saving more than a quarter million euros due to the elimination of BlackBerry.”

We thank Telefonica for trusting Nokia for their business phones. We expect that other companies may follow the trend and consider WP8 Lumia’ potential, amidst the continuous competition of top platforms IOS and Android. The future is bright for Nokia.

Blackberry should start thinking ahead and get their plan B onboard as early as now before its too late. It’s a fact that Blackberries make good desserts but Lumia makes good business phones – true that!
