INXS take back the No.1 spot on the ARIA Albums Chart with their now five week running collection “The Very Best”, which becomes the first album this year to retake the top spot, and the first since Michael Buble’s “Christmas” did so in mid December of 2013.
INXS’ “Very Best of” becomes the bands equal longest run at the top, as their first No.1 “The Swing” racked up five broken weeks from the 2nd of April in 1984 (3 weeks and then a further two weeks from 30-April-1984). This now takes the bands tally up to fourteen weeks at the top from their four No.1 albums, moving them up to equal 38th on the list of ‘Accumulated Weeks at No.1: Albums 1965-2014’, alongside the fourteen weeks notched up by Crowded House (5 #1 albums), Bee Gees (3 #1’s), and Whitney Houston (2 #1’s).
Another former No.1 album, Pharrell Williams’ “G I R L” is back up to No.2, which also means that Pharrell holds the No.2 position on both major charts, whilst the “Frozen” Soundtrack is back up to No.3 (it was released on DVD/BR in the USA this past week, so downloads could account for its rise, as it’s not out here until April 30th), and last weeks No.5 debut of “Recess” by Skrillex climbs a place to a new peak of No.4, and Katy Perry is back up a couple of places to No.5 with her “Prism” album.
Last weeks No.1 debut for Kylie Minogue with “Kiss Me Once” drops down to No.6 this week, with her previous No.1 album “X” falling harder after its second week on the charts, it dropped to No.9. Two former chart-topping albums return to the Top 10, with Eminem’s “The Marshall Mathers LP 2” back up nine spots to No.7 and Lorde with “Pure Heroine” is back up three spots to No.9. Jumping up ten places to a new peak of No.8 is Iceland’s Asgeir with his first English language album entitled “In the Silence”, and last weeks No.4 debut of “O Vertigo!” by Kate Miller-Heidke drops down six places to No.10 this week.
NEW PEAKS & MOVERS: John Butler Trio kicked off a national tour this past week, and their former No.2 set “Flesh & Blood” is back up six places to No.15 this week, whilst Gabrielle Aplin’s recent visit and current Top 10 single help her former No.22 album “English Rain” back up fourteen places to No.24 this week. John Legend is back up nineteen spots to No.31 with “Love in the Future”, and The Wiggles crack the Top 50 for the first time with their collection “Hot Potatoes! The Best of” (former peak No.67, August 2011), and it also becomes their fourth Top 50 appearance ever, and first since the November 2011 tribute album “Rewiggled: A Tribute to the Wiggles” (HP-25). Daft Punk is back up nineteen places to No.35 with “Random Access Memories”, which is the only new certification for the week, now 2x▲ Platinum in sales, and with his new Top 15 single, the self-titled debut album for Taylor Henderson is back up twenty-five places to No.37. Also returning to the Top 50 is Ellie Goulding with “Halycon Days” to No.45 and “Fuse” for Keith Urban to No.50, both albums climbing up fifteen places.

The final dropout from the ten is Foster the People with “Supermodel” which debuted at No.8 last week and drops down to No.25 this week. With the new remix album for Avicii debuting this week, the former No.1 album “True” drops back down seven places to No.22 this week, whilst Lea Michele drops eleven places to No.33 with “Louder”. Hillsong drop thirteen places to No.38 with “The White Album” and “Native” for OneRepublic is down twelve spots to No.47 this week. Top 50 drop outs come from Elbow (33 to 58), Tina Arena (44 to 59), Lana Del Rey (47 to 65), Architects (13 to 72), The Audreys (32 to 74), Hillsong Young & Free (34 to 77), the first Bruno Mars album (45 to 94) and the self-titled album for Morgan Evans (20 to 97), whilst leaving the Top 100 from last weeks Top 50 are two Toby Keith albums (#19 and #37), Lionel Richie (#42) and Eli Young Band (#46).
The highest new entry of the week is new at No.11 the first best of compilation for My Chemical Romance entitled “May Death Never Stop You”. New at No.16 is “True: Avicii by Avicii” a remix album of his former No.1 album “True”, whilst further Top 20 debuts come via Aloe Blacc with his third album “Lift Your Spirit”, which beats the No.22 peak that his first chart entry (his second album) “Good Things” achieved back in June 2011. Also landing a new chart height is The Pretty Reckless who debut at No.20 with their second album “Going to Hell”, far surpassing the No.71 peak their first set “Light Me Up” achieved in September 2010.
The tenth studio album for Enrique Iglesias entitled “Sex and Love” enters at No.23 this week, becoming his sixth album to chart in Australia (5 studio & 1 best of) and his first since “Euphoria” hit No.6 in July 2010 (charted again in May 2011 when he toured here, reaching No.25 in June 2011). The new album features duets with Pitbull, Flo Rida, Jennifer Lopez and Kylie Minogue. The final Top 50 entry is new at No.43, “Rooms of the House” by Grand Rapids, Michigan post hardcore band La Dispute, and this is the bands third album, but their first to chart in Australia.
Lower 50: A Great Big World announced an August tour whilst they were in the country this past week on a promo tour, which helps their former No.33 album “Is There Anybody Out There?” to jump back in at No.51 this week. Bastille jump back up thirty places to No.53 this week with “Bad Blood”, and the fortieth anniversary edition of Elton John’s “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road” (HP-1, three weeks from 18-March-1974) is back in at No.55 this week.
