John Legend remains at No.1 for a third week with his piano balled “All of Me”, keeping MAGIC! and their track “Rude” at No.2 for a second week, with their reggae infused track picking up a ▲ Platinum certification this week.
Jason DeRulo moves up a place to a new peak of No.3 with “Trumpets”, whilst one of the two Top 10 debuts from last week, “Happy” for Pharrell Williams jumps up six places to land at No.4 this week, both tracks pushing down the former No.1 “The Monster” for Eminem and Rihanna to No.5.
“Timber” for Pitbull & Ke$ha is down a place to No.6, whilst leaping up nineteen places to No.7 is “Free” for Rudimental featuring Emeli Sande and Nas. It becomes the bands third Top 10 single after “Feel the Love” (HP-3, peaked July 2012) and “Waiting All Night” (HP-6, peaked June 2013), plus it becomes Emeli’s second Top 10 after her duet with Labrinth on “Beneath Your Beautiful” (HP-5, peaked March 2013) and the first Top 10 for Nas, whose previous best effort was a No.16 peak as guest rapper on the Jennifer Lopez track “I’m Gonna Be Alright” (peaked July 2002). Dropping this week is Avicii with “Hey Brother” (7 to 8), “Like a Drum” for Guy Sebastian (6 to 9) and “Roar” for Katy Perry (8 to 10).
NEW PEAKS & MOVERS: Havana Brown is up three places to a new peak of No.11 with “Warrior”, whilst Ed Sheeran is back up eight places to No.13 with The Hobbit 2 theme “I See Fire” (the film opens Dec 26th in Australia). “Demons” for Imagine Dragons holds at No.15 and the track picks up a ▲ Platinum certification, whilst Avicii rises back up to his former No.18 peak with “Addicted to You”. The Vamps move up three places to a new peak of No.21 with “Can We Dance”, and Joel Fletcher with Savage move up five to a new chart height of No.23 with “Swing”. Lorde climbs back up with “Royals” (24 to 25) and more-so with “Team” (33 to 26), whilst MKTO jump up twelve places to No.32 with “God Only Knows”. London Grammar score their first Top 40 chart entry by leaping up forty places to No.39 with their song “Strong”, whilst Mariah Carey is up ten places to No.40 with her 1994 No.2 single “All I Want for Christmas is You”, which after nineteen years, gains it’s first sales certification of 2x▲ Platinum. “Animals” for Martin Garrix is back up five places to No.46 and up twenty-two places to No.47 is A Great Big World with Christina Aguilera and their current US Top 5 track “Say Something”.
DOWN DOWN: The one track to leave the Top 10 this week is last weeks highest new entry, “Triple J – Christmas Number 1”, with the charity single tumbling sixty places to No.69 this week. Bastille is down five places to No.16 with “Of the Night”, and One Direction’s “Story of My Life” is down two to No.20, both tracks pick up a ▲ Platinum certification this week. “You” for Nathaniel is down nine places to No.29 and falling back after rising last week is “Soldier” for Samantha Jade to No.34. “Wrecking Ball” for Miley Cyrus is down five to No.36 and “Stay the Night” for Zedd is down seven to No.41. “How I Feel” for Flo Rida tumbles sixteen places to No.57 and after one week within the Top 50, “Beautiful” for Jessica Mauboy is back down twenty places to No.66.
Lea Michele is best known as Rachel from the TV series ‘Glee’, with the show landing 113 chart entries between 2009 and 2012 (none for this year). Lea lands her first solo chart entry away from the show, as her track “Cannonball” is the highest new entry at No.45 this week.
Lower 50: Busta Rhymes moves up a few places to a new peak of No.52 with “Thank You”, and Bonnie Anderson is up seven places to a new height of No.55 with “Raise the Bar”. Bliss N’ Eso with Ceekay Jones and the track “My Life” is up six places to a new peak of No.68 and “Get Lucky” for Daft Punk is back up eleven places to No.71 (could be due to Nile Rodgers’ recent visit). After falling down last week, “Young Girls” (HP-62) by Bruno Mars is back up fifteen places to No.75 this week and up a couple of places to a new peak of No.96 is Fatboy Slim with “Eat, Sleep, Rave, Repeat”. Returning tracks this week includes “Feel This Moment” for Pitbull and Christina Aguilera at No.82, which is being used in the Channel 10 promos for ‘So You Think You Can Dance 2014’. Back in at No.85 is “Can’t Hold Us” for Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, the “Low High Low” EP (HP-84) for Max Frost at No.98, and back in at No.99 is the “Embrace” EP (HP-75) for Goldroom.
There are three new entries in the lower half of the Top 100, firstly Will.i.am is new at No.53 with “Feelin’ Myself”, featuring guest acts Miley Cyrus, Wiz Kahlifa and rapper French Montana, plus this becomes the sixth single lifted from his “#WillPower” album. Childish Gambino lands his second chart entry and first solo, entering at No.81 with “3005”, from his current album ‘Because the Internet’ (TW-63), with his first appearance being on the Flux Pavilion track “Do or Die” (HP-48) from February of this year. The last new entry of the week is in at No.95, John Mayer and Katy Perry with “Who You Love”, taken from John’s album “Paradise Valley”, and it becomes his twelfth Top 100 chart entry overall.
