It’s official! Having fought off strong competition from some of the hottest performers around right now, at today’s O2 Silver Clef Awards, Arctic Monkeys will be crowned the Live Nation and Ticketmaster Best Live Act.

The only one of the O2 Silver Clef Awards decided by a public vote, fans threw their support behind the Arctic Monkeys, helping them fight off competition from Sam Smith, Ed Sheeran, Foo Fighters and Kate Bush.

During May and June 2015, the public were asked to vote for their Best Live Act of 2015 via the Nordoff Robbins website and Twitter. The shortlist consisted of 15 artists who played in the UK between March 2014 and March 2015, handpicked by a panel of music industry experts.

The full shortlist was:

Alt-J
Arcade Fire
Arctic Monkeys
Bruno Mars
Disclosure
Dolly Parton
Ed Sheeran
Foo Fighters
Kate Bush
Pharrell
Prince
Royal Blood
Rudimental
Sam Smith
Taylor Swift

Arctic Monkeys stormed onto the music scene in 2006 with the fastest-selling debut album by a band in British chart history, which Rolling Stone ranked as the 30th greatest debut album of all time.

Five studio albums, seven Brit Awards, three Grammy Awards nominations and one Mercury Prize later, loyal Arctic Monkeys fans have united to recognise their favourite band’s contribution to music. On their win, Arctic Monkeys say, ‘Thanks to everyone who voted for us and helped us win this year’s Nordoff Robbins Best Live Act Award at the O2 Silver Clefs. It’s a real honour to be chosen. Congratulations to Nordoff Robbins on their 40th birthday and for all the incredible work they do using music therapy to help people.”

Previous winners of the Best Live Act Award include Justin Timberlake (2014), One Direction (2013), McFly (2012) and Sir Paul McCartney (2011).
