LOWELL – The nation’s largest free folk festival is right here in the NoBo region this weekend as the 7th Annual Lowell Folk Festival brings continuous music from more than 20 acts on five stages in the historic downtown district.The family-friendly event takes place this weekend, July 26 through 28, 2013.

The lineup of performers represents a variety folk sub-genres, including bluegrass, gospel, world music, dance and more. The international array of folk music is accompanied by a variety of ethnic foods, craftspeople & artisans, and kid’s activities as well as canal boat and trolley rides.

The festival kicks off on Friday at 6:30PM with a parade to include the many immigrant groups that call Lowell home, carrying their country’s flag. The parade begins at City Hall Plaza and concludes at Boarding House Park.

For these three days talented musicians from around the world get together to perform in downtown Lowell, and every concert is free. With mouthwatering international food vendors, talented artists & craftspeople, and dancing into the evening, the festival is sure to be the perfect way to spend the weekend.

The Lowell Folk Festival is presented by Lowell National Historical Park, Lowell Festival Foundation, the National Council for the Traditional Arts, the City of Lowell, the Greater Merrimack Valley Convention and Visitors Bureau, and the Greater Lowell Chamber of Commerce.
