From the Counselor’s Office:
MAY 11-15: GREEN WEEK 2015
Last Thursday we sent home an information sheet with details about Green Week activities. The two that I want to remind you of are the Cell Phones for Soldiers drive and the NEHS Bookmark Sale.
Please check around your house—and ask friends and family to do the same—for old cell phones that you are no longer using. These will be accepted in the BP Library before school each morning this week. They will be recycled and the profits are used to provide military personnel with calling cards. Go to www.cellphonesforsoldiers.com for more information. There was a permission slip on the back of the Green Week flyer which must accompany each donation. We will have extras available in the library if you need one.
NEHS is selling Green Week bookmarks ($.50 each) in the library before school this week. The funds raised will be used to support the Kansas City Zoo, as part of our focus on endangered species. Please encourage your Mustangs to purchase a bookmark or two! The goal is to raise $100.
I look forward to seeing everyone’s recycled clothing, accessories and hats on Thursday! This “trashion show” has become a Bell Prairie tradition and it’s always fun to see what new items our students come up with. And don’t forget—Thursday is also the day to send the old plastic bags that are cluttering your pantry. They will be recycled and your family can work on the habit of taking reusable bags for your grocery shopping!
FINAL TONS OF TABS UPDATE
Thank you, thank you, thank you, for your ongoing support of this year-long service project! Bell Prairie was featured on the Ronald McDonald House’s Facebook page last week for our huge collection! You and your Mustangs have made a difference in the lives of families with critically ill children, so please remember that every time you pull a tab off a can and save it. :-) Let’s get started right away on next year’s collection, and don’t forget to enlist the help of the extended family as well as friends.
Total collected:
36 paper boxes, totaling about 720 pounds
That equals over 720,000 tabs. WOW!

"Blast into Summer with a Sonic Value Card!"
This is Bell Prairie’s final fundraiser for this year. This fundraiser will start this Thursday, May 14 and end Wednesday May 20.
We will have prizes and Target gift cards as incentives for value card sales.
We hope to end the school year with a "Sonic Blast" so we can start the 2015-2106 Bell Prairie school year with extra PTA funding for student field trips, activities and events.
The cards are affordable (just $5), a great value (worth over $20 in value) and good at any Sonic location. Best part is that all sales go to Bell Prairie PTA. Incentives will be awarded for card sales ranging from 5-100 cards. Students can earn up to a $100 gift card from Target, for some fun summer shopping!
