Niners Nation highlights and profiles the 2017 NFL draft-eligible prospects from college football games 49ers' scouts attended during Week 1.
We are continuing our weekly series from last year, Scouting 49ers' Scouts, where each week we will highlight some of the draft-eligible players from the games 49ers' scouts were credentialed. The Internet, and Twitter in particular, provide some insight into where NFL teams are sending scouts for college football games. We will likely never know the full list of games, but it does give us some insight.

One particular draft-eligible prospect for the Charlotte 49ers to keep an eye on is DT Larry Ogunjobi, No. 65. Ogunjobi is relatively new to his craft - started playing football his sophomore year in high school - but the underrated defensive lineman brings great size and some versatility to his game. He displays first step explosion with good leverage and quick foot movement, and has impressive athletic agility shooting through gaps and the power to occupy blocks.

Louisville has several draft-eligible prospects, many likely targeted on day three of the draft. Some prospects of note are: WR James Quick, No. 17; WR Jamari Staples; No. 2; DT DeAngelo Brown, No. 97; ILB Keith Kelsey, No. 55; and SS Josh Harvey-Clemons, No. 25. However, there is one Louisville player to keep an eye on: OLB Devonte Fields, No. 92.
OLB Devonte Fields, No. 92, a natural pass rusher flashing top level first round talent, has an excellent combination of size, speed, and athleticism, with great fluidity, balance, and change of direction skills. Fields had a very impressive freshman year at TCU in 2012 (53 TKLS, 18.5 TFL, 10 sacks), but injuries (played with a torn labrum from Week 4 of the 2015 season) and off-field issues (alleged assault of an ex-girlfriend) have halted his progress. Fields would bring solid skills off the edge for the 49ers; however, the off-field red-flags he comes with will require some serious background checks.

*CB Jamar Summers, No. 21, was third nationally in interceptions per game in 2015 (0.6 per game). The junior, displays tremendous ball-hawk abilities and impressive ball skills. He provides great size and length for the position, consistently stays on the hip pocket of the receiver, and regularly shuts down opponents. Moreover, he's a solid tackler in space.

Oregon State has three offensive lineman that should be turning heads this season: OT Dustin Stanton, No. 74; OG Gavin Andrews, No. 62; and OG Sean Harlow, No. 77. Unfortunately, Sean Harlow is still recovering from a broken right ankle and has decided to redshirt the 2016 season and return for 2017.
OT Dustin Stanton, No. 74, is a powerful right tackle with impressive athleticism and agility. The former tight end displays quick feet - does well in space - sliding laterally adjusting to movement, and has improved his power and strength developing into a physical tackle with toughness - finishes blocks knocking defenders off the ball. Has the versatility and "nastiness" to kick it inside at the next level.
OG Gavin Andrews, No. 62, is back in the lineup after redshirting the 2015 season with a foot injury. The large and thick bodied Andrews displays tremendous power and strength with a physical style of play and a great ability to move the line of scrimmage. Andrews also bestows impressive athleticism and a great football IQ. Shows versatility to play all five positions on the offensive line.

QB Mitch Leidner, No. 7, has had some hype entering the season with "first-round" potential being slung around quickly resulting in numerous fans mouth's to agape, but I am not on that hype-train. Leidner definitely possesses the prototypical size and bulk for the position, with impressive athleticism - can do damage with his legs - and has decent arm strength. There are flashes of premier talent, but a lot of inconsistency in his game.

*RB Samaje Perine, No. 32, displays solid vision and balance making consecutive moves in a short area getting low and through the cracks with impressive pad-level hitting the hole angrily with amazing physicality pin-balling and rumbling through tackles. A very powerful man, Perine benched 225 pounds 100 times in one session (10 sets of 10 in about a half an hour); moreover, according to Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops, Perine can broad jump more than 10 feet and runs the 40-yard dash in the 4.5 range. If you are looking for power and strength, then Perine is your man.

OLB Tyus Bowser, No. 81, was a former collegiate basketball player with the Houston Cougars during the 2013-14 and 2014-15 season. Bowser has great first-step explosion coming off the edge, displays pass rush ability with nice bend, agility, athleticism, speed, and the skill set to make plays. He shows fluidity in space and excellent movement skills (short area quickness), and bestows good length (long arms). A physical player, will need to continue to gain strength in order to succeed at the next level.

*RB Nick Chubb, No. 27, is back! I was hesitant to put Chubb on my Top 5 Watch List of running backs due to the uncertainty of him coming back from his gruesome knee injury, but the game he had against North Carolina (32 ATT, 222 YDS, 2 TD), made a believer out of me. Chubb displays an amazing combination of strength, explosion, vision, patience, and suddenness. He makes cuts on a dime and has one of the best "feel" instincts in the game. It's like he has a spidey sense anticipating contact and superb quickness and power breaking tackles always falling forward and running to day light. With is health appearing to be nearing 100%, Chubb could very well likely take the top coveted running back slot in this years' draft.

*RB Elijah Hood, No. 34, is a powerful runner that punishes defenders with his physicality and desire to run through people, rather than around them. A card carrying Eagle Scout, Hood has a great combination of size, power, and speed, as well as displaying good vision and instincts running inside with nice agility making consecutive moves in a short area. Nevertheless, Hood's bread and butter is as a violent down-hill runner bringing power behind his pads laying down the hammer on defenders.

DE Jordan Willis, No. 75, brings length and speed off the edge for the Wildcats, displaying impressive athleticism to beat most offensive lineman, but also the awareness and football instincts to read offensive formations. After leading K-State with 15 1/2 tackles for loss, 9 1/2 sacks, and 4 forced fumbles, Willis brings the explosion and size off the edge the 49ers like to see.

*RB Christian McCaffrey, No. 5, is a true versatile player bestowing a perfect blend of athleticism, explosion, balance, foot quickness, and agility, combined with tremendous patience and vision that would make Frank Gore proud. A dynamic threat in all offensive facets of the game, the junior showcases a home run threat whenever he touches the ball displaying great speed (gets to full speed in a hurry), impressive hands (natural pass catcher), and the elusiveness to step-out-of and break tackles consistently. Moreover, he's adept at running downhill with excellent pad-level and suddenness, and the superb vision and patience to find the cutbacks on zone runs. Brings promising value in the return game.
OG Johnny Caspers, No. 57, brings a physical and aggressive attitude to Stanford's offensive line. Locked in at right guard for the Cardinal this year, Caspers also provides experience playing center, which will likely be his position at the next level. The former baseball and lacrosse star boasts impressive athleticism and quickness for his size, displaying terrific agility pulling quickly reaching the second level with the strength behind his pads and the consistent leg drive opening holes. Shows sound foot agility easily capable of sliding laterally across the line, and is stout in anchoring the pocket setting a solid base allowing the quarterback to step up in the pocket. The powerful leader of the offensive line also provides versatility capable of playing all interior positions, which should benefit him at the next level.

QB Chad Kelly, No. 10, has a rocket of an arm capable of making throws all over the field, an aggressive attacking mentality, and shows toughness and strength in the pocket. His reckless style of play at times does not help his accuracy. A very confident Kelly will definitely need to overcome plenty of red flags from his past, including maturity and coach-ability issues.
TE Evan Engram, No. 17, is extremely athletic and explosive, and is typically lined up all over the place (split out wide, slot, in-line, H-back) in the Rebels offense, which makes him a great candidate as a move tight end at the next level. The hybrid tight end showcases tremendous burst off the line of scrimmage, fluidity in route running, quickness in-and-out of breaks, amazing ball skills, impressive hands, explosiveness after the catch, and a nightmare match-up for any line backer. His blocking skills are not too shabby either with good positioning and hand technique and tenacity to finish keeping his feet moving.

*RB Dalvin Cook, No. 4, a dominant threat for the Seminoles, is arguably one of the best running backs in the nation. Cook displays a smoothness to his game with excellent instincts, versatility, and big-play waiting to happen at any time threat. His vision and feel for the game is tremendously impressive, showcasing a nice suddenness in traffic with elite tackle-breaking slippery skills similar to a snake sliding through grass, and the capacity to hit the home run whenever he touches the ball. He also shows an underrated skill as a pass catcher. Cook's amazing talent, determined work ethic, and desire for continued improvement will bode well for him at the next level.
*OT Roderick Johnson, No. 77, is a highly aggressive road grader mauling through defenses with his brute physicality, size, and strength. The junior boasts great length with a large wing span, impressive athleticism, and relatively light feet for a man his size. Johnson has the mindset and physicalness of a nasty guard, but showcases good athleticism and decent foot speed to slide laterally and adjust to movement. Although a dominant force as a run blocker - displaying tremendous toughness finishing off blocks all the way to the whistle - Johnson is inconsistent in pass protection, where his "rawness" is still evident and technique will need to continue to improve (waist bender).
