We're on to the twenty-third pick of the second round, No. 55 overall in the 2013 Niners Nation NFL mock draft. If you missed parts of the first round, check out our entire rundown.

The Green Bay Packers are now on the clock, and their Niners Nation GM is London_9er. With the fifty-fifth pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, the Packers select T.J. McDonald, S, USC.

Explanation: Perfect Fit for the ‘Green ‘N Yellow' Team with the release of future Hall of Famer & NFL 2009 Defensive Player of the Year DB Charles Woodson, & DC Coach Dom Capers once saying "You can never have enough of those guys...You always have to be conscious you can get short there in a hurry." referring to defensive backs. For a second round pick, this would be a great STEAL!!! T.J MACDONALD, would be following his father's footsteps, playing professional football in the NFL, as a Defensive Back. (His father, T.J Sr. was drafted by & first played for the Arizona Cardinals, & then moved on to the West-Side Coast. In the Bay Area he played 6 years for the San Francisco 49ers, got a Superbowl XXIX Ring with them & ended his NFL career there).

T.J McDonald Jr. totaled a career-high 112 tackles before running a 4.59-second, 40-yard dash and posting an impressive 40-inch vertical leap at the NFL Scounting Combine. He also benefitted from the tutorship of longtime NFL defensive coach Monte Kiffin, who used McDonald in a variety of roles in their three seasons together. He is a Hard Hitter, & versatile, able to play Both Strong & Free Safety Positions, even on Special Teams Unit. He will definitely be an important team member of the Defensive minded ‘Green Machine' Football team. He's an all rounded solid Safety player, ready to be coached up at the next level - The NFL. Go Pack Go ! Here is a link to T.J. Macdonalds Highlights.

Nick Chiamardas: I'm very surprised McDonald goes this early. I project him more as a 4th or 5th round pick (3rd round at best). McDonald certainly has the pedigree as London_9er points. He's an aggressive player that could fit well into the Packers system. He's tends to be overly aggressive at times and may be a target of offenses his first couple of season. If safety is the pick here it'd be hard to pass on Bacarri Rambo who is probably the best safety left on the board.
