Steven Auschnitt, the heir of the famous interwar tycoon Max Auschnitt, has stated that he could invest in Resita, according to ziuadevest.ro website. Steven Auschnitt, now 92, left Romania in 1938 and returned for the first time in 1993 and then in 2000. Since then he has shown interest in Romania, opening a Max Auschnitt memorial centre in Lugoj. His father was delegated manager of the Resita Plants and Iron Works, the biggest stock company that existed in Romania before the onset of the communist regime. Along with his brother Edgar, he owned the Titan-Nadrag-Calan plant that had over 4,900 employees in 1938. He owned plants, mines and land in Resita, Anina, Bocsa, Oravita, Sasca and Armenis, all in Caras-Severin County.

Accompanied by Laurent Musitelli, CEO of Flexico Group, a European leader in the manufacturing of resealable packaging, Steven Auschnitt visited the “Eftimie Murgu” University in Resita. The visitors wanted to know the institution’s capacity to offer mechanical engineers and to engage in research and development collaboration into injection moulding. The visit also sought to look into a possible investment in the injection moulding domain. “It was a first meeting; in the future we will find solutions in order to collaborate as well as possible, just like we are doing with other international companies too,” a press release reads.
