During June – August 2016, Telekom Romania, in partnership with SmartAtletic and Getfit, has organized the 6th edition of the sports and movements festival “The Biggest Sports Hour” in Bucharest, Brasov and Mamaia. All in all, over 37,000 people from 16 cities of Romania and Bulgaria attended the sports classes, whether as active participants or supporters. Approximately 100 volunteers backed the organization of the event.

“We have celebrated the 6th edition of the sports and movement festival <<The biggest sports hour>>. The impact of the project and the number of participants has increased year by year, which is deterring us to continue our campaign for a healthy lifestyle – Sports is good!”, said Ruxandra Voda, Communication Director  Romania, Telekom Romania.

During the festival “The Biggest Sports Hour”, 41 sports classes took place, such as: RealRyder – bicycles, OneKor NRG, Step aerobics, Zumba, Steel Combat and Steel Tonic, Kangoo Dance, Zumba latino, TotalGym – as well as Functional Training, Nirvana Fitness, Yoga, Fight Klub Khai Bo, Fit Girls, TotalX30 Aerobik, Pump Circuit Training, Rebound AAS, FreeStyler and Boot Camp. For all football enthusiasts, a Shooting Gate was set up and even an amateur’s volley championship was organized. The sessions have been supported by 64 famous national and international trainers.

For the little ones TriKids was organized: a cross challenge, a duathlon, as well as a family fun run. Furthermore, the Kids BikeSchool was opened – within a special polygon area, children learned different bicycle riding techniques, safety rules and how the traffic circulation works, heled byspecialized coaches.

Approximately 1,000 runners of all ages have contributed to set a new world record for “The largest number of people running 100 meters in a 12-hour outdoor relay race”, according to the World Record Academy. After 12 hours of running, they have reached a total distance of 154 km within 12 hours in the city of Bucharest. In addition, for each participant who enrolled for the relay race, the Telekom Romania Foundation has donated 1 euro for supporting the social causes of the event – Galantom, Școala de Valori and Magicamp. The UpDown Run Charity Cross was organized in Brasov with two races, of 4 and 7 km. For each runner at the cross, the Telekom Romania Foundation and SmartAtletic have donated 4 euro to the Hospice Casa Speranţei Foundation.

Moreover, Telekom Romania and the S.U.P.R.A. Association continued the program “Emotions don’t stand for food” rolled out for 50 children with weight issues and their parents. The aim is to identify the emotions behind the corporal weight imbalance, admitting the situations of over feeding and eventually promoting   health mechanisms.

Also, general medical tests and nutritional advices for more than 700 people were provided free of charge. Additionally, the participants also received water, natural juices and healthy foods, during the entire event.

“The Biggest sport hour” is taking place under the umbrella of the campaign “Sports is good”, powered by Dolce Sport, launched in 2011.

Founded in 2004 by Ioan Stoica, former member of Romania’s golden cycling team, and Vlad Stoica, multiple Ironman triathlon finisher, smartatletic begun as a sports association. In 2011 it turned into sports events agency, with the association still active, in parallel.

The founding members decided to get involved in developing the mass sports by organizing events and educating people in a sportive spirit.
