Golden boy Julian Niman had a double reason to celebrate his 60th birthday, holding an impromptu party for staff across his business – less than 24 hours after being honoured at a gala awards night.

Giant balloons and a 20ft banner were decorated across the company’s Manchester headquarters, with cakes provided for all the workforce.

Nimans’ Chairman was presented with a replica cake of his office and warehouse complex, a gold bar and a vintage computer to remind him of how he first started the business more than 30 years ago, inspired by his CB radio hobby. The night before he was honoured by his peers when he received a lifetime achievement accolade at the Comms National Awards, run by Comms Dealer magazine.

He hosted an official birthday party in a plush city centre hotel the day after his October 11th milestone, surrounded by friends, family and work colleagues, several employed for almost three decades. Entertainer Bobby Davro hosted the spectacular event.

He previously held a family fun day to mark his birthday celebrations, inviting all his staff to an open-air summer party at a local sports centre.

“Nimans is like one big family to me so what better way to celebrate than with the people I work with. We’ve come a long way together.” he said. “As for the future, I’m really looking forward to launching a number of new initiatives to help staff further develop their careers.”
