markruffalo:

This was sent to me. I thought I’d share it for any of my brothers and sisters in California who want to #StandWithStandingRock.

“* Traditionally, indigenous peoples ran on foot to carry important messages and this year the Oceti Sakowin Standing Rock Youth Runners ran to their state capital and 2,000 miles to Washington, DC to bring their message of water protection.  The Youth Runners are visiting California on a healing journey from Big Sur to Los Angeles with the goal of drawing awareness to our local environmental threats. This is a call to create Standing Rock in your own back yard and they carry the message that “Mother Earth is a source of life and not a resource.”

* Please follow the Oceti Sakowin Youth & Allies Facebook page for updates and any scheduling changes.(www.facebook.com/OcetiSakowinYouthAllies)

* The Barbareno-Ventureno band of Chumash Indians will welcome the youth and Chief Arvol Looking Horse (19th Generation Keeper of the Sacred White Buffalo Calf Pipe and Bundle) when they arrive in Ojai at the below referenced location.  They will also be greeted by members of CFROG (Citizens for Responsible Oil and Gas) and OVDF (Ojai Valley Defense Fund) among others.

* They will be hosted for the night at the Turtle Conservancy in Ojai where they will meet with press and environmental leaders.(www.turtleconservancy.org)

* The Barbareno band of Chumash Indians (BBCI) will welcome the youth and Chief Arvol Looking Horse when they arrive at Refugio Beach (near the site of the 2015 oil spill) and also at Ambassador Park in downtown Santa Barbara as referenced below.
