Happy Sunday!

Today I want to share an idea on creating some felt plush Valentine's hearts with you featuring the Simon Says Stamp Plush Charmed Heart and Plush Blooming Heart Dies. These are great for making all kinds of projects but I've been adding to my homemade Valentine's decor this season so I created a set of four plush hearts that can be tucked into bowls (I think a decorative bowl with lots of felt plush hearts would be pretty) or tucked around other decorations. Add a string or ribbon through the tops to make hanging ornaments or create a pocket on the front with the scallop die and use them as gift card holders and a gift all in one!

Dimensional felt flowers from the Swirl Flowers and Leaves and Plush Daffodil and Daisy die collections add a beautiful element to the center of this Simon Says Stamp Plush Charmed Heart. The heart was die cut from Taylored Expressions Cream Puff felt (2 pieces, one for the front and one for the back). From the front panel, I used the swirl pattern from the die collection for added interest.

On the front panel, I used doubled red Crochet Thread (I purchase mine from Hobby Lobby) and backstitched the design.

I created dimensional roses from Taylored Expressions Red Hot felt and Taylored Expressions Cream Puff felt using the smaller of the two Swirl Flowers and Leaves die, one from the Plush Daffodil and Daisy die collection, and one from the Plush Blooming Heart die collection. The different sized rolled roses add interest. Leaves die cut from Taylored Expression Moss and Split Pea felt using a Simon Says Stamp Plush Charmed Heart die were back stitched in place using green embroidery floss. (I didn't have crochet thread in a green color to match.)

Once the flowers were hot glued in place and leaves were stitched (or hot glued) in place, I started blanket stitching the two heart panels together using red crochet thread. The contrast adds a nice decorative element to the plush. About an inch and half from where I started, I left an opening and stuffed the heart full of polyester fiberfill and then finished blanket stitching the heart shut to finish the design. If you want to make the hearts into an ornament, thread string, thread, or ribbon through the top and knot.

The red felt plush heart was die cut from Taylored Expressions Red Hot felt using the Simon Says Stamp Plush Blooming Heart. The small heart backstitched to the front panel was die cut from Taylored Expressions Cream Puff felt and stitched in place with red crochet thread.

A small rolled rose die cut from Taylored Expressions Red Hot felt using a Simon Says Stamp Plush Charmed Heart and leaves die cut from Taylored Expression Moss and Split Pea felt using a Simon Says Stamp Plush Charmed Heart die. The leaves were backstitched in place and the rose hot glued. This is the most simple design but I really love it. White crochet thread was used to blanket stitch the two heart panels together.

The gray plush heart was created from Taylored Expression Heather Gray felt using the Simon Says Stamp Plush Charmed Heart. Hearts from the Simon Says Stamp Plush Blooming Heart collection were stitched in place first and then I added a scattering of rolled roses and other flowers die cut from both the Simon Says Stamp Plush Blooming Heart and Simon Says Stamp Plush Charmed Heart die collections around the hearts. The rolled roses were hot glued in place, the remaining flowers have die cut holes in the center of each making them perfect for sewing in place with a french knot!

This heart was blanket stitched together with white crochet thread. For whatever reason, the gray felt was the most delicate. If I made one with this felt again, I'd back it with interfacing before die cutting to make it a bit sturdier when stitching together. I was super careful when stitching and stuffing it closed to not pull the thread too tight or stuff it too full.

My last heart I'm sharing today is in pretty shades of pinks! This heart was die cut from both Taylored Expressions Cherry Blossom and Pink Sherbert felt using the Simon Says Stamp Plush Blooming Heart collection. From one of the Pink Sherbert felt hearts I die cut the scallop design. This would make a great gift pocket if you're using these for gifts.

This heart was again decorated with rolled roses in three sizes and green leaves stitched in place with a backstitch. The heart panels were blanket stitched together with light pink crochet thread to finish the heart.
