Sponsored: Gluten Free With NoGii

By Renee Arbia

No doubt you have heard of food allergies. An allergy that is overlooked quite frequently is an allergy to gluten. Many people believe it is a “diet fad”, but in fact it is a true allergy that can be very painful to those who suffer from it. As a parent I find that learning about food allergies is even more important, not only for the safety of my son, but if he should ever have a friend with food allergies I would like to be able to easily accommodate them.

If you are allergic to gluten and are in fact gluten intolerant you have a disease called, Celiac disease. This disease is very rare. However, many people are taking on the gluten free diet lifestyle because they find it is helping them feel better. Some of these people feel better because their body may just digest gluten differently then others and some people do the gluten free lifestyle because of the health benefits.

Gluten is a yellowish-gray, powdery mixture of plant proteins. It is found in many cereal grains such as wheat, rye, and barley. Gluten is a glue-like substance used to hold things together such as in flour for baking, and in making seasoning especially monosodium glutamate (MSG). (Source: The American Heritage Science Dictionary, Source: Hasselbeck, The G Free Diet).

Elisabeth Hasselbeck who has battled Celiac Disease for a long time has created NoGii which is a line of certified gluten-free protein bars, protein powders and paleo bars. Elisabeth Hasselbeck is a, Gluten-Free Mom, Emmy Award-Winning Talk Show Host, and New York Times Best Selling Author of The G Free Diet and Deliciously G-Free.

NoGii’s motto is “Love what you eat” which is why all of their products are non-GMO and made with sustainably sourced, premium ingredients. NoGii bars have an ideal balance of protein, fat and carbohydrates, and do not contain any trans fat, hydrogenated oils, or high fructose corn syrup. NoGii offers a variety of choices to provide you and your family with good clean, certified gluten-free, and nutritional food choices that fit your active lifestyle.

NoGii is great as an on-the-go meal between activities, refueling after a workout or anytime you want a satisfying, protein-filled snack. They are safe enough that the whole family can enjoy them.

Being a Moms Meet Green Moms Amabassador (GreenMomsMeet.com) we were given a large bunch of NoGii products to test out and see how we liked them. None of us have Celiac disease or even have a gluten intolerance. In fact we are mainly Italian so gluten is very much in our family. Going gluten free would never be an option for us, if it is just for a dietary reason, however, I am always on the look out for healthy snacks and things that we can just grab and go.

We really enjoyed the NoGii products. I thought the protein bars were extremely filling. Some of the bars were even so big I could only eat half. They worked great between meals and as a great snack when I wanted my chocolate fix. As opposed to having a chocolate bar I would grab a NoGii chocolate peanut butter bar and my craving was satisfied and I ate something that was good for me. I did not feel sick anytime after, or have any problems digesting. Our whole family loved the NoGii bars. Each of us had our favorite flavors. The Nuts about Berries paleo bars Xavier and my husband loved. Also, the cookies and cream protein bar was my husband’s favorite. My favorite is the NoGii High Protein Peanut Butter and Chocolate Bar. It has twenty grams of high proteins and tastes just like a peanut butter and chocolate crunch bar.
