Cubic furthers commitment to local communities with donation to the Guide Dogs
for the Blind Association in London
SAN DIEGO, Calif., April 21, 2015 – Cubic Transportation Systems, a business of Cubic Corporation (NYSE: CUB), today announced its donation of traffic equipment to the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association in London to assist training guide dogs for the visually impaired. Cubic’s donation of a plated post with a pedestrian push button will help train guide dogs to locate pedestrian crossing facilities and allow blind pedestrians to move safely around the capital.
“London is leading the way in ensuring that all its traffic signals comply with the latest accessibility guidelines. It’s amazing to have as collaborative a supply partner as Cubic who is as committed as Transport for London (TfL) is to assisting pedestrians travelling around the Capital get to where they want to go safe and securely,” said Iain Blackmore, head of Traffic Infrastructure at TfL.
The request came from the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association. Transport for London answered the call by inviting contractors on its Traffic Control Equipment Maintenance Contract (TCMS2) to offer the free service.
