2013 saw Texan soul singer Latasha Lee come into her own as she further refined the musical formula that she found instinctively resonated with her true musical sensibility, a formula grounded in the legacy of the likes of Aretha Franklin, Etta James, Sam Cooke and Gladys Knight; a throw-back, Motown/retro soul vibe with a big heart, the resurgent appeal of which Lee says is 'needed; we need music that is healing, and music that feels good, we don't always want to just dance...in this world today we need something that is going to get us through our day, that is going to put a smile on our face', and here she kicks off 2014 with the smooth harmonies and warmly strutting bassline of 'Stuck In My Mind', the distinctive, jazzily accented tone of her voice asking 'is this my reality, or my illusion, you really got a hold on me'.

From having her music rapidly spread throughout the blogosphere from January of last year, Lee rode the wave of growing recognition that her 'Latasha Lee & The BlackTies' album garnered, with an ever growing schedule of live shows and festivals that stretched from Austin to Seattle, extending to New York when she played our R.A.W. showcase at SOB's, and further went on to open for Lee Fields at Red Bull Sound Select and appear on Rolling Stone.com while featuring at the Austin City Limits Music Festival.
