We spoke with a member of the Innobaby team, Sheila Cheripka, to learn more about the company and what new parents can expect at the New York Baby Show.
For someone unfamiliar with Innobaby, how would you describe the company’s mission and core offerings?
Innobaby was founded by two mothers with a passion to learn, create, and solve problems. Innobaby delivers high-quality, smart, juvenile solutions that are safe, innovative, and durable because, as parents, they knew that was what they wanted in products.
Innobaby offers smart solutions for on-the-go challenges, such as preparing and packing food. Innobaby’s snack containers are stacking, interlocking, nesting, adjustable, and expandable to travel compact and organized. The brand’s innovative AquaHeat system allows parents to warm food or bottles on-the-go with ease—it’s BPA-free, non-toxic, and safe for feeding.
The product line has continued to grow with solutions that meet the changing needs of smart parenting. Innobaby is very excited about 2017 as they will be expanding their product lines to include wear, sleep, play, and bath.
Tell us about Innobaby’s background. When did it start and how has it evolved since then?
In 2000, Jee & Kristen met through their husbands who were college roommates, and together entered the world of motherhood and play dates. While sharing their motherhood experiences and challenges, Jee and Kristen realized that they both had the desire to do something more, and shared a level of enthusiasm and spirit to create what is now Innobaby.
Jee and her baby were always on-the-go, leaving her frustrated with the limited selection of formula and snacks she had to carry. Her formula dispensers spilled & mixed contents while snacks got crushed in zipper bags. She wanted an all-in-one container that kept contents separate, crushed-free, and that stacked or interlocked to save space and was accessible. Her needs were later solved with the launch of Packin’ SMART ®.
Kristen designed a crib sheet that is easy to change as she was challenged with the task of changing crib sheets throughout the day. While struggling with a crib sheet in the middle of the night while trying to tend to a crying baby, she decided to create a sheet that is easier to use. With a borrowed sewing machine, she learned how to sew and created her first prototype that was waterproof, easy to change, gentle on the skin, and safe. Her needs were later solved with the launch of Sleepin’ SMART™ (Crib Sheet Topper).
With the birth of the Crib Sheet Topper, Jee and Kristen launched Innobaby in 2006. Within the first six hours of a two-day event, they sold out of their original 200 units and took orders for the remainder of the show. They realized that many parents shared the same challenges and were glad to offer solutions that could benefit everyone.
In 2016, Innobaby was excited to celebrate its 10-year anniversary. Expanding beyond the mealtime space in which the brand was built, Innobaby is beginning to distinguish itself with new wear, sleep, playtime, bath, and cleaning products, all of which are being introduced in 2017.
Today, our office is based in the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois. Our award-winning products are sold through various retail channels within the U.S. and overseas. We are a family-owned business; we love working and enjoy bringing our ideas and visions to reality.
What are the most popular and newest products from Innobaby?
Innobaby will be introducing a variety of new products as well as new additions to the revolutionary Aquaheat, DinDin Smart, and Teethin’ Smart collections. Expanding beyond the mealtime space in which the brand was built, Innobaby is beginning to distinguish itself with wear, sleep, playtime, bath, and cleaning products. The new line-up of items include a robot-shaped teether, all-new silicone bath scrub, a silicone bottle brush, high-quality kids fashion, sleep products, and play tents.
Aquaheat: Innobaby launched its pioneering Aquaheat technology last year as an innovative solution for on-the-go instant feeding, and continues to further enhance this collection. A simple system conveniently designed to quickly warm foods, liquids, and bottles without the use of a battery or electricity while traveling. The new Aquaheat Cool pack is designed to keep expressed breastmilk, baby purees, and healthy lunches at its optimal temperature until you’re ready to eat—perfect for a delicious, nutritious, and warm meal anytime, anywhere. Another addition to this line is the Aquaheat Lunchbag, a storage bag that allows for the Aquaheat system to truly be an on-the-go solution for busy families.
Teethin’ Smart EZ Grip Robot Teether: Sized perfectly for a baby’s little hands and designed with an easy grip on all four sides, the square-shaped lovable robot characters will be a new favorite for babies. Innobaby’s teethers have a functional design to reach all parts of the mouth to provide strong oral development and soothe sore gums.
Bathin’ Smart Silicone Bath Scrub: A smart solution for bath time fun, the silicone bath scrub will come in an assortment of fun kid-friendly shapes, and is specially designed with flexible soft hair-like bristles to gently wash and massage a baby’s sensitive skin. The silicone bath scrubs will be a must-have for a soothing bath, and is safe and easy to maintain, as it does not harbor any mold or bacteria.
Silicone Bottle Brush & Stackable Bottle Drying Rack: Recognizing that there are many cleaning challenges that come with feeding growing babies and families, Innobaby is introducing these new items to assist in the everyday maintenance of bottles and feeding ware.
