We spoke with a member of the bamboobies team, Madison Ward, Associate Marketing Manager, to learn more about the brand and what new parents can expect at the New York Baby Show.
For someone unfamiliar with bamboobies, how would you describe the company’s mission and core offerings?
Kerry Gilmartin, mom of three, founded bamboobies in Boulder, Colorado because she was on a personal mission to provide natural, high-quality and comfortable breastfeeding support products to new moms everywhere. Tell us about bamboobies. When did bamboobies start? How has bamboobies evolved since then?
As a serial entrepreneur with a few start-ups under her belt, Gilmartin founded bamboobies in 2010 because she was a ‘leaky’ breastfeeding mom who couldn’t find a comfortable, washable nursing pad to help keep her shirts dry. Due to the popularity of bamboobies Nursing Pads, the company has grown organically, expanding its distribution and product line through bootstrapping, a great staff, and a fun brand with eye-catching packaging. In March 2017, bamboobies will mark its seven-year anniversary and continues to see rapid growth. The company has experienced double digit percent growth year-over-year since its inception. Today, bamboobies’ award-winning products are available in more than 10,000 stores including national distribution at Target, Walgreens, Babies ‘R Us, and Kroger stores.

They are made of ultra-soft bamboo rayon velour, an absorbent inner layer and an outer milk-proof liner to help prevent embarrassing leaks.
