Say cheese! Pope Francis is breaking protocol once again, this time by posing with a group of teenagers visiting the Vatican for what might be the first papal “selfie.”

One of the teens in the shot posted the photo to Twitter, where it’s been going viral ever since. (Via Twitter / @FabioMRagona)

The teenagers were part of a church group visiting from northern Italy. They got to meet with Francis personally and went up to him afterwards to ask for a picture. (Via ABC)

Conveniently enough, the adorable selfie was posted the same week that the Oxford Dictionary decided to include the word “selfie” in its online dictionary. (Via Oxford Dictionaries)

Pope Francis has become pretty well-known for his untraditional and down-to-earth personality over the past few months.

A handful of people have received personal phone calls from the pontiff himself after writing to him or experiencing some kind of personal tragedy. (Via WVUE)

The pope apparently likes to makes his calls the old-fashioned way — on a landline. And after someone answers, he simply responds, “It’s the pope!”

And after his election in March, Francis reportedly made calls to his newspaper stand back home in Buenos Aires to cancel his delivery and to his shoemaker to remind him to keep making his regular orthotics. (Via Fox News)

We wonder what Pope Francis will do next — photobomb an unsuspecting tourist, perhaps?
